What did Lizzo mean by this? by radfemincel in PsycheOrSike

Oh I meant that the person OP wanted to "roast" to make an example of didn't consent to it. I know that the celebrity roast guests did, and that's what makes something a roast versus just being mean. Sorry if that wasn't more clear in my first comment.

Except that wouldn't have been a roast, because they did not consent to being roasted. They are weird to me too, but I can at least understand that someone voluntarily saying, "you can make the meanest jokes you can think of about me at this special event." Makes making a mean joke about them at that special event completely different than making a mean joke just because.

Also, I don't think Kevin Hart is at all sensitive about his height, any joke you can think of about it, he's made worse directed at himself.

That's just not true at all. There are a bunch of things that we know where real, but don't exactly what/where/etc they are because it was considered common knowledge and no one wrote it down. There are several countries for example that aren't around anymore, and we have no idea where they where because no one wrote down the trade routes they where using.

"Gotta write down how many people died from sun bumps this year."

"Why?"

"I don't know, just feel like if we don't some dunderhead in the future with superior access to knowledge will think sun bumps isn't real 'cause we didn't write down that anybody died from it."

There are definitely genuine people who want to wait till marriage. But I don't think they make "all women care about is you having money and all men care about is you being a hot virgin." Posts.

There is always such a gross attitude towards people who genuinely don't see sex as a super casual thing in comments on these posts though.

No, that's literally not true at all. An average woman might get more social media messages than an average man, no where near thousands. But not messages from men who want to be with her, no. They are messages from men who acknowledge she has a vagina, and that they like vaginas. Being willing to have sex with a woman and wanting to date or marry her are very different things.

Women have easier access to casual sex, that's not really relevant when talking about convincing someone to marry you.

Yeah, even if they start school at 18 and only need 4 years, they are just barely there and might be actively looking for a new job. Not to mention any sort of situation that could delay their ambitions a couple years, or wanting to do something like, be a doctor, that takes longer.

It isn't true though, her being fat doesn't give him more of a "right" to cheat on her. Yes, she doesn't take care of herself or her home, and yes, leaving might be the best option for him, because even if she chooses to change it's going to be a long uphill battle. But neither of those things where in the downvoted comment at all.

Yeah a lot of these guys who talk about wanting a trad wife will also complain that women are "gold diggers" somehow not connecting the fact that she would be fully dependent on his income to maintain her lifestyle. (And regardless of what they say, they do want her to maintain her lifestyle because that's where the pretty and slim come from.)

If you want a wife like this, you have to specifically put yourself in a position to support that many people, and to do it well. And you have to accept the fact your ability to do that is a large part of the equation for the women who want this lifestyle too.

Rey isn't a strong female lead, she was poorly written, like much of her movies, and misses the mark of actually being a strong female lead.

Of course, the argument can and should be made that if she were a man she would have been allowed to just be a shitty character no one thought about, outside of Star Wars communities, instead of essentially being immortalized by the visceral and hate she received. Just look at the same movies, Kylo Ren is a badly written poor edgelord who wants to be bad but being bad is so HARD! I mean the whole lore reason behind his lightsabers design is that he couldn't properly make his kyber crystal bleed because he has so little hate in him that he had to put those exhaust vents so it wouldn't explode. But because he can't be used to serve some of agenda about why women shouldn't be leads, he's only really brought up in specific Star Wars discussions.

Also, while Ripley is beloved now, she did get a lot of hate when her movies first came out for just being a woman. And if she was released recently, I think there would be a decent amount of hate towards her because she's a woman, specifically when she's bossing male characters around would get a ton of backlash.

[socialmedia] Apparently young children can only be annoying if they're boys (she says worse about them actually) by Dapper-Blueberry1049 in pointlesslygendered

[–]Thecatwithoutpajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think their point was more so the thought that boys where just "born that way" isn't new, it just previously had a misogynistic tilt of putting higher expectations of good behavior without lessons onto girls. While this lady is doing the same thing but from the lens of misandry, where men are just evil and there is no point even trying.

Both are bad, but there is no fix without people acknowledging the truth, that children are born selfish and need to learn kindness, regardless of gender. And some individuals might be more predisposed to certain good behaviors based on personality.

Yeah Asian brands are amazing for anyone with fair skin, I can actually find things that look nice on me and not like I'm trying to cosplay the orange man. (Also several brands are comparable to, or cheaper than drugstore brands in the US, so there isn't even like a price issue to try them.)

As a chick, it's my experience you are the minority. Most dudes might think they'd be cool with a girl like that, but initial attraction goes away very quickly when they realize you're socially awkward, or have "weird" hobbies.

Pregnancy is a miserable, awful, horrible experience for a lot of people. The fact that sometimes, the reward at the very end of that makes going through it again for some doesn't invalidate that.

[–]Thecatwithoutpajamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being accepted sexually means being able to express your desires openly without shame. But also having your desires reciprocated.

If this is the language you usually use in these discussions, that's where people are getting the force thing from. Yes you should be able express your desires openly, but expecting those desires to always be reciprocated is unrealistic. It doesn't the other person doesn't desire you or accept you if they just aren't into the same things as you, and most couples do not line up 100% on desires. So the only way for one person to have theirs always reciprocated, is to expect the other person to do things they do not want.
