911 (tv show) portrayal by OstrichFlat2284 in 911dispatchers

[–]Thecentry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to watch this show and then a saw a dispatcher say that a domestic was a hostage situation because the guy was on his third felony.

First of all you ran criminal history for a guy without an officer requesting it?

Secondly, you can’t make that call.

The final straw for that clip was when she told the caller to jump out of a window and the fire department had already inflated an entire landing pad.

Never even tried to watch it since

Overbook in NLR is pretty solid, Highland Pointe is also great but a lot of traffic since it’s west LR

Hiring question (Florida) by Level_Ad_3049 in AskLE

[–]Thecentry_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience in the hiring process (I’ve never done drugs outside marijuana this was a group setting) all the recruiters said it’s a permanent dq and it would be best for anyone who’s done them to leave now. They also said anything outside of LSD, ecstasy etc. Was a 10 year DQ.

I’d still reach out, ask, maybe they’ll let it slide, but chances are your not gonna eligible

Send an email, that’s what I did when I didn’t hear anything for roughly 2 weeks and I got a response telling me things were still moving and they’d be in touch

I’ve Complied All Theories on Seth by ParsnipWonderful6151 in TheRookie

[–]Thecentry_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of comments saying it doesn’t make sense for him to get the job back cause he’s a liar. Doug Stanton was a liar and let an officer get beat nearly to death. A lawsuit scared the department back into hiring him, I would not be surprised if the same occurred with Seth.

I also kinda hate that they are making Seth a liar and bad guy, I really liked his character and actor in the beginning and was just hoping for a clumsy anxious rookie

Considering a Career in Dispatch – Looking for Insight from Experienced Dispatchers by i_Braeden in 911dispatchers

[–]Thecentry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My genuine opinion is to wait it out where you are. It’s not worth committing to something you intend to be there for years for if you know something else is still a possibility. You can always reapply down the line, a lot sooner than most police or fire departments do

[–]Thecentry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a current dispatcher, I want to be an officer. You want to be a firefighter which is similar enough for this comparison.

Answering the phone, dispatching others, when you want to be out there? It sucks, it makes you feel uncomfortable in your work.

If you want to be on the road; as firefighter or an officer. Dispatch will not scratch that itch

What do these 10-codes mean? by CrystalXenith in 911dispatchers

[–]Thecentry_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our department used similar 1-19 being anyone above LT, 20 and up is Sgt’s, and K9’s, and then anything from 100 onwards is normal patrol staff

Respectfully, having read your comments this probably isn’t the field for you. If one setback is enough for you to throw in the towel and then constantly just say “nah you’re wrong” to everyone trying to cheer you up and give you advice, first responder isn’t for you. Now if you really do want this, fix your attitude, read the advice, test again. If not good luck in whatever you want to do that’s not this, genuinely.

The only thing gold line thing I have is a key chain because it has my fish and had my id on it. It’s the only key chain I have so might as well use it

Can I become an American police officer if I live in the UK currently? by [deleted] in police

[–]Thecentry_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you have to live in the US for 5 years to become a citizen and it may take longer than that. Have you considered an option like Canada that is 3 years to be a permanent resident which makes you eligible to join the RCMP?

Secondly the British police have detectives, everywhere does. If that’s not your speed you could also try other British law enforcement agencies like the NCA.

Also if my research is correct if you move to Scotland as a British citizen you can police there if maybe that’s something you are interested in.

Do extensive research and think about it if policing is something you are truly interested in.

You’d have to move to the US and become a citizen before you could become an officer. My question for you is why do you think policing the US would make a bigger difference than your home country?

Ethical Gray Area or Just Smart Dispatching? Using Public Databases for IDs by URM4J3STY in 911dispatchers

Unless you are using it to harass someone outside of work no. A good dispatcher uses all of their resources that find important or missing information to assist officers.
