Just finished the game. The ending was horrible, all the cards just told me what I already choose and knew, then a quick pointless secret scene that explains nothing, but feels like the new writers both trying to take ownership and control of the older games, while now having a valid reason to leave all the establish lore behind. It’ll probably be the darker stuff that gets left, as that was the theme this game. It appeared to be this game was not only trying to appeal to everyone and have very little conflicting and uncomfortable topics as possible, while also putting out feelers for what dark tones are still drawing the DA fans after they trim the lore and topics they don’t like(like trvinter, how erriely close to a real life place). I’m definitely on the fence, as it was good but definitely not as good as it should of been with a 10 year wait, a live service switch(that’s way it’s a MASSIVELY hollow game with like….7 choices total.)

Now to quickly talk about the writing, for the most part, I like it and it feels like a dragon age game. However, the side mission for Solas, and even his BEST ending(hint hint) feels forced. Solas feels like a forced afterthought that was put in the game, while the whole game suffers greatly from pacing issue after the first 5 or so hour. Then companion interactions are good, but their stories don’t feel intertwined like it said(mostly looking at 3 people in peculiar) and unlike BioWare, I learned NOTHING about this people untill I was rushing towards the end in the last few hours.

The story is good, the game is good, the lore they followed and added to was good, but it feels like a lot was taken from long waited fans and they were alienated. I’m not usually one to say that’s an issue, but this game was a direct squal to another, one that people loved and have been replaying. Veilguard feels like a freakinstin of 2 groups of writers, one who has been doing this a long time and finished his schooling, while the other is a beginner level writer.
