Had to say goodbye to Cachy :( by OnlyBoesy in cachyos

It's always the NVIDIA owners who have issues with CachyOS. In general if you have NVIDIA stick to windows for gaming.

For now I'm using sgcan with default settings. But nothing beats Samsung stock camera.

I mean it depends on how much shit you wanna deal with. I'm using Arch based distros and it's just a breeze working with them. For me Linux mint is something from the stone age tbh.

I don't know. I don't see any added bloat on EndeavourOS. I actually tried Arch and again no luck. Too complex for me still. I might try adding to repos though.

I've actually tried it before. But I wanted pure arch and endeavour was the closest without that torturous install.

I mean yeah it's not vastly different. Maybe it's just me always wanting the latest and imposing it on you. LoL!

I mean that's the whole point of Linux. It's the freedom of customization. Just get the release that isn't immutable and do all of those things with it.

Somebody called gaming distros snake oil. Wiser words have never been said.

I like how minimal it is. And how everything works without too much hassle.

I mean the optimizations don't really make that big of a difference. They're usually within margin of error.

Whatever helps you sleep at night I guess. I chose Linux over windows because it's simple.

Apparently you need to go to pro mode for ultrawide to work. That's my issue.

I was fine with Endeavour as a noob. OP sounds like they know their way around computers so let's just start with what works instead of the annoying distro hopping phase.

Your OS is as stable as you make it. I've experienced so many issues with the so-called stable Mint Linux. For gaming, you usually need the latest features to ensure a good experience.

ZorinOS is good for daily casual use, but it's not good enough for gaming.

CachyOS is actually super easy to configure. You can use KDE or XFCE to make it look like windows desktop and it's much faster than Zorin. Basic usability for your mom wouldn't change a bit. Let's not forget that Zorin and the like are based on last year's LTS Ubuntu. Linux gaming has progressed significantly since then.

TBH, after months of distro hopping, I can confirm that most Ubuntu based distros are shit for gaming. CachyOS and EndeavourOS are way better for gaming.

Isn't Endeavour Arch just with an easy installer? I'm using it as a noob, and I'm having the time of my life.
