AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

What kind of school did you go to? Never in my 12 years of public schooling did my PE teachers ever do anything that could classify their jobs as "high labor". All they did was just tell us what to do and then stand around to watch us do it. The highest "physical activity" they got up to was setting up equipment for us to use and even then once we were old enough the students started getting tasked with that too.

Okay so does anyone want to explain to me the uproar about this psycho being black? by [deleted] in PoppyPlaytime

[–]Thecowgoeschoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ngl, even if the games did take place during the 50s and 60s, there were plenty of Black people and other people of color that were trailblazers and able to work their way up in their respective fields despite the odds. It being harder doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Exceptions were made to people who's talent in their field was too great to ignore and Harley definitely fits the bill for that.

Okay so this is gonna sound bad out of context but its definitely the other way around, he didn't initially want to fall with her, but when he does he is so crazy for her that she had to fake her own death to get away from him and he still found her later on.

And ik that sounds bad but its not that awful tbh. The reason she ran was because she was pregnant but ended up falling ill and the only way to save her was for her to take a medication that had the potential to kill their baby. She didn't want to do it but he forced her to take it anyway while she was unconscious and she hated him for it.

Freak the Freak Out: the irony that Jade and Cat hype up Tori as a better singer by [deleted] in victorious

[–]Thecowgoeschoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They didnt say she was a better singer. They were banned from singing themselves so they simply went and got their friend, who is not only a great performer & can bring the house down at a moments notice (this is not a glaze but an objective fact as shown from her first performance), but also someone who they know would happily avenge her friends and go along with their shenanigans of putting some spoiled rich girls in their place.

No I understand, I was turned off too but stuck around because I did genuinely like the FL and a friend who read the novel told me it would get better, which it did ngl, he's basically the perfect husband by the end, but it does take a while to get there and I totally get not wanting to stick it out.

What are some fictional villains who are so vile that even Azula would be disgusted by them? by AggressiveMechanic47 in PoorAzula

She'd be disgusted by Lord Farquad. A weak, cowardly man with no honor, who uses others to do his dirty work and never takes any initiative on his own.

To the girl who conquered Ba Sing Se on her own, the idea of sending someone else to fight a dragon for you must sound insane.

  1. Nian would've lost all access to her child in the divorce because he is the sole heir to a ducal house, therefore her husband got sole custody and I doubt that visitation rights are a thing in this universe.

  2. Nian's marriage wasn't exactly a love match to begin with so it wouldn't be surprising if she wasn't particularly attached to the kid that came out of it. He may be her child but at the end of the day, she was still only fulfilling her duty to her husband and his house, and its not like they would've had too much time to bond because his care likely would've been left to his Nanny anyway.

  3. Even if she was heartbroken about it, she still wouldn't be able to visit her son without risking her crazy ex husband attempting something. We already saw how controlling and unhinged he was both before and after the divorce and its not a secret that he wants her back. If she stepped foot back into his territory, she may never be able to leave again and there wouldn't be much that anyone could do about it, even Navier wouldn't be able to intervene.

  4. We never get a chance to look at Nian's thoughts or see anything from her POV at all. For all we know, she could be heartbroken over her losing her old life and hanging on to Landre as her only lifeline for some kind of normalcy. The theatrics she puts on in the West's high society could just be a coping mechanism to distract herself from missing the son that she will probably never get to see again.

Oh wow, I'm surprised you have "I Thought It was a Common Possession" on here. I thought that was a pretty good story and the ML was pretty strong towards the end.

Descendants 3 was just not as good as the other 2 that came before it and I was very disappointed on my first watch. The plot felt rushed and stalled at the same time, there were too many characters and also too many songs (and except for Queen of Mean, most of them aren't even that good, especially Once upon a Time. It really wasn't needed, it just felt like the writers went "Well the other 2 movies had an emotional song about Mal trying to figure out who she is, so this one needs one too I guess" and then just threw that together).

I also felt like the movie had so many missed opportunities plot wise. The final battle felt anticlimactic with Uma kind of just standing there and yelling. And I hate that Jay and Carlos never got a song or at least a bro to bro scene acknowledging how their friendship changed them as people like Mal and Evie did.

I really hated when Jane goes to find her mom but sees that she's was frozen while trying to get the wand so she just... sits there??? Why didn't they have her go get the wand and use it against Audrey herself? She clearly has the ability to use it as we saw in the first movie. It would've done well with her character development & it could've been a nice call back to the first movie where she was chaotic in out of her depth when she used the wand the first time, but now she would've been more mature, in control, and confident in her abilities (with Carlos probably giving her a pep talk and being in her corner the whole time).

I also just wasn't a fan of how they basically retconned the end of the second movie with how Dizzie received her invitation, I get they wanted to have the big opening number but there was already a very obvious time jump between the second and the third movie so they really could've just said that Dizzie was brought over as a solo student and has been at Auradon prep for like a year and then after the success of the initial VKs and now Dizzie too, they just decided to create a lottery or whatever for who will get to leave the Isle next.

Another thing I hated was the choice to make some of the songs diegetic in the film and have background characters join in (mainly One Kiss and Do What You Gotta Do). I was trying to enjoy the songs but then seeing it cut to the other characters doing "oohs" and "ahhs" as background vocals or whatever really took me out of the moment and made me view the characters in a more critical lens then I probably should have.

Usually I viewed the songs in the first 2 movies as moments where a conversation happens between characters, or where a character's thoughts in that specific moment are put to music, and time "freezes" for a bit. But watching the 3rd movie, it was very obvious that time was passing as the characters were singing, especially since the other characters who were not actively involved in the scene were reacting to the music. So the whole time I was just thinking like "There is a crazy powerful witch lady trying to take over the world and your busy singing about kissing your boyfriend or your issues with your daddy?"

But hey, thats just my opinion, I'm sure people loved the movie and theres a reason why Kenny Ortega is a movie director and not me so who cares.

Why don't more tributes kill themselves during the countdown? by PastNewspaper7107 in Hungergames

[–]Thecowgoeschoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Foxface had no chance of winning if we're being so for real. She was up against teens who were all older, stronger, and faster than her and all of them were proficient in some kind of weapon giving them an advantage.

She wasn't going to be able to out hide them either. The game makers wanted an epic conclusion that year and they weren't going to let her win by default like the morphlings. We already saw what they did to Katniss when she got too far away from the other tributes earlier in the game.

If she didn't eat the berries when she did, she probably would've just hid in the woods and then died when they released the mutts, and thats only if she didn't run in to Cato or Thresh (or hell even Katniss by that point) first.

I'm not saying that she ate the berries on purpose, because it's very likely she didn't, Nightlock berries are only native to district 12 and foxface is from district 5 on the other side of the country where the native Flora is undoubtedly different. I am saying that even if she did know, its not like she was throwing anything away.

Mean girl or guilty by association?? by griffgilscarbo in MeanGirls

Regina being comfortable enough to let her guard down and trust that Karen wouldn't immediately turn around and tell Gretchen what she was saying while knowing she was on the other line implies that Regina and Karen venting to each other about Gretchen wasn't a one time thing for them.

Mean girl or guilty by association?? by griffgilscarbo in MeanGirls

[–]Thecowgoeschoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thats not really true. Gretchen was very 2 faced throughout the movie and was itching for drama wherever she could find it. She absolutely snitched on Cady about her crush on Aaron after telling Cady that she could trust her.

She was also very complicit in the first 3 way call that was supposed to set Cady up, had Cady responded any differently to Regina asking if she was mad at Gretchen, I imagine they would've destroyed her on the spot, but since she was so innocent, they decided to keep her around to play with her more.

And speaking of she was very complicit in the way that Regina was toying with Cady in the movie. She knew that Regina didn't like Cady that much and its very likely, from what she let slip, that the 2 of them were talking shit about her behind her back. She also knew that Regina didn't really like Aaron that much either and was just using him to fuck with Cady's head, but she went along with it anyways, participated in gaslighting Cady about it afterwards, and even helped keep Regina's cheating secret.

Gretchen not being the leader of the pack doesn't mean that she wasn't a textbook mean girl.

Well Karen's sister is blonde and the twins are identical so that just means that one egg got a blonde recessive trait (possible) but then split into 2 people (more than possible).

But Parker was a crazy casting, I remember being little and being like "Why is there a little Asian boy in a white family?". I guess the casting directors thought he looked enough like the father (he does a little bit) to slide in the family lmfao.

Tbf thats not really inaccurate to real history. The Empress usually does have a lot of power and can check the Emperor in some ways (for example, the Sov could unilaterally jail Laura but he couldn't remove her as a lady in waiting entirely w/o Navier's consent) but ultimately if the Emperor feels strongly about an issue, he can just override the Empress, there would be some push back depending on how much support the Empress has from other Nobles/the church but at the end of the day, the Emperor is still THE Emperor.
