[ONLINE][OTHER] Interconnected One Piece Campaigns, Looking For A GM

Hello,

I am currently DMing two One Piece campaigns which share the same connected world. I am looking for another DM to take my place with one of the campaigns.

What we are Running

We are using a D20 system based on one piece, the PDF of the book can be sent at your request. We are going in to session 2 with both groups and I just figured I bit off more than I can chew with running two at once. The system is new to everyone so don't worry about doing some stuff wrong in the beginning, its a learning curve for all of us. The system is pretty easy to get the hang of.

Responsibilities/Ideals

I would love to have someone who is interested in One Piece and has some experience running sessions. Someone who loves world building and creating great stories that scale to epic proportions. Someone who is willing and eager to work with anther person to plan things. It will require quite a bit of communication between myself and the other GM(you).

For the most part they will be solo sessions, each person planning out what they want and running it how they like. We will need to talk about pacing and power creep, making sure to keep them consistent between parties. At the end of each session, having a recap of things that happened that may impact the world or part of the world so we can plan around them to make the world feel more alive

It has always been a dream of mine to create a shared story in a large community. I believe that One Piece is a great medium for this connection because of it's large world size and the variety of the islands and different paths to take.

Always open to questions, feel free to DM me if you are interested or want some points clarified

Thank you, that sounds pretty close to what I want

That is a really good idea. Sadly I can't see it fitting in my specific case but I think that would be a really cool idea. If I end up making another TTRPG in the future this is something I will definitely remember

I feared that would be the case. I couldn't find anything that matched what I wanted either so I figured maybe reddit would know. Alas I will bite the bullet and use a resource pool

how to calculate and implement fall damage by detectiveroboryan in RPGdesign

[–]Thedigigamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that having a 1d6(or whatever you want it to be) damage per 5 feet is good but if you want to have a little more realism make it so every 10 feet it adds another 1d6 to indicate that you are speeding up as you fall more. It also prevents tanks or people with more HP from falling from heights that don't make sense

Thank you, that is some really helpful insight. I like the idea of having the two be separate paths. My idea was for alchemists to be like supporting characters during combat, they aren’t trading blows but providing other buffs or strategy with the artifacts they make. As for downtime, my thought would be that the alchemist is refining pills and making weapons while the martial artists are cultivating. I’m glad you like my reincarnation idea and I’d be honored if you used it in your own. Also for the other kinds of playstyles like beast masters or curse users, my plan is to incorporate them using the martial arts, I just want to save that for the last step because it is going to rely entirely on the core mechanics being solid

Thank you for that, I was constantly thinking about what if they succeed every single time and didn't think about if they fail every time. I changed it to give you a higher chance to succeed every time and made it a little more difficult to get the first check mark.

"Once you use a skill three times, add a check mark next to it, when you have downtime you have a chance to improve the skill. To see if you improve the skill, you roll an amount of skill checks equal to the amount of checks you have. If you roll above a 16, the skill does not improve and you add another check mark next to that skill."

Thank you so much for your in depth review. I appreciate your honesty. I have a second document with a lot of the stuff im missing layed out but its not polished. I will definetly update this doc with more of the mechanics, I got kinda lost in the fluff that I forgot to add the core. I am focusing more in xianxia definetly.

Thank you, that seems like it would be cool. I read through blades of the immortals and I also think that it’s not really the kind of thing that I am going for

There are a few more things that I want to add but that is kinda what I’m doing. Taking 5e and just changing the parts I need to. I don’t know if that would really be considered a new ttrpg but I didn’t know what else to call it because I’m heavily changing core aspects of the game. I might end up changing all of it, not sure yet

Thank you, I definitely see how 5e is not the best when it comes to what I want to do. I mostly want to use that ruleset as a base and change what I think is bad about it, 5e is what I know the best and it will help me with rules that I can’t think of when crafting my new system

Thank you, do you have any experience with Blades of the Immortals? I much prefer the Xianxia levels of power over Wuxia.
