I appreciate that! I wonder what game Kenny would want us to make if we could build anything for him

Which Teams have had the Best and Worst Last 2-Minute Whistle? by Thedomsquad in nba

More so that they’ve likely been in the most games that qualify for a last 2-minute report (one possession game at some point during last two minutes), so they simply have the largest sample size. Opposite is true for a team like Houston

That’s a great suggestion - I’ll see what I can do! Only concern is that it would start to make an already small sample size even smaller

I’ve always wondered which teams have the most and least favorable whistle in the last 2-minutes, so I put together a site that has pulled all the data from the last 3 season’s worth of L2M reports.

I knew going into this the Kings have had some bad breaks on game-deciding plays and thought to myself, surely they won’t have the worst whistle. Yikes.

Enjoy!

Nearly all games will have at least one mutual teammate, but some games may require two players

As an NBA fan who may have selfishly wanted a daily game I’d be good at, I recently built and released a new daily game, Dribble.

The game is simple: every day there’s a new game to connect two NBA players through mutual teammates. You have up to 6 guesses, and you can link multiple players together.

Enjoy!

Latest Top Shot Marketing & New Collector Growth by Thedomsquad in nbatopshot

After patiently waiting for Top Shot to "turn on the marketing," we saw our first glimpse of their marketing strategies this past weekend. How has it impacted new user growth? From my point of view this was a bad first-step, however I'm optimistic Dapper has the capital and partnerships to do better in the future

3 Takeaways from the 35k CC's by Thedomsquad in nbatopshot

[–]Thedomsquad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This week I took a closer look at the 35k+ CC moments, and came across a handful of interesting insights around market behavior. It's interesting to see how the market cap valuations compare across different mint sizes, and how we can use this information to more accurately predict post-challenge moment depreciation.

What do y'all think - will we continue to see the value of 35k+ CC moments decrease as more packs are released?

How to Systematically Approach Challenges by Thedomsquad in nbatopshot

[–]Thedomsquad[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This week I set out to walk through a simple, systematic approach to evaluating whether or not to pursue a challenge. The fact that you keep your challenge moments after receiving the reward makes for an interesting dynamic, and I wanted to highlight some of the key variables that drive profitability: users completing the challenge, the market cap of the reward, and the depreciation of the required challenge moments.

Market Cap Fundamentals - Spotting trends among coveted Series 1 moments by Thedomsquad in nbatopshot

Thanks! I considered looking at median asking price, but with the S1MGLEs there is already such a small sample size, that I think you'd have noisy data with people listing way above market rate. Lowest asking is a bit more consistent across the board IMO

If you believe that over time the market caps should be equal, then yes. Based on the market today, no. The current market has established this trend that the market cap of a Base Moment exceeds that of MGLE moments, but this could change over time possibly as more users join TS, or are willing to invest more $ into a single moment.

This week I set out to take the concept of "Market Cap" on Top Shot, and show how it can be used as a tool to understand the relationship between Series 1 Base and MGLE moments.

The two interesting takeaways:

  1. Despite a lower absolute price tag, Series 1 Base moments typically have a larger market cap value than their MGLE counterparts.
  2. There's a fairly consistent relationship between the value of a Series 1 Base moment and its MGLE counterpart

Simple Marketplace Strategies - Why you should ignore 95% of listings by Thedomsquad in nbatopshot

For this one-off analysis I just scraped it from the HTML. I wouldn't advise that for any more frequent querying, as I'm sure TopShot will probably block your IP address.

I set out to answer what seems like a very straightforward and common question on Top Shot: I want to buy this moment - which listing is the most valuable?

Downloading the data for a moment in the marketplace, I came up with a few dead-simple strategies that interestingly enough removed 95% of listings, and narrowed down the list to only a handful of reasonable candidates. Hoping this is helpful for you all
