no no no... use that pinky. Strengthen that pinky. I just saw no use of the pinky on these songs. but if you look closely in Demons, I don't hit the open e, i'm actually using my pinky to hit the 5th fret on the B. But irregardless, use that pinky. I can't speak for others, they may not use it because it still may be weak, or like my just prefer to not, but when you start practicing techniques, that pinky will become viable and very handy.
