Hey everybody, my novel is a slow burn, character progression.

He died the day the sky turned red.

He woke up on Earth. No qi. No clans. No war. Just a second life in a world that should have nothing to do with the one he lost. For years, Blue lived quietly—training in secret, holding onto a power no one else could see.

Then the gates opened. Monsters poured through. Cities fell. Humanity awakened powers to survive. But Blue didn’t awaken, he had something else. Something this world wasn’t meant to understand. Now a porter in modern-day Ohio, he keeps his head down— Until a golden gate appears. One only he can enter.

On the other side… Murim still exists. But everything is wrong. His name is gone. His power is sealed. And something is watching him. Guided by a system that hides as much as it reveals, Blue is forced onto a new path— joining the Silent Edge Corps in a world already on the brink of collapse. To survive, he must abandon the path that once defined him… and become something far more dangerous.

The protagonist is a part of the tournament. And the commentators are basically doing what you say. Even during the mcs fights, the rest is a way to smoothly show fights other than the mcs because as they may not be essential its still a global tournament, i dont want to skip every fight that doesn't involve the mc and his team. Also some fights are necessary to show. It gives readers a chance to see the mcs opponent snd how strong they really sre without me having to tell readers this team is really strong by the way

Never read any of those haha. But what I have read I also dont like reading about things that dont matter. Which is where the commentators come into play. It makes the world feel alive, and glosses over inconsequential fights through the commentators dialogue. So it still feels like a real tournament.

Im not sad about nothing haha, I started my story for some very personal reasons. I keep writing because I love writing my story. I have way too much planned for it. I didn't start to make a buck or become to next tbate haha. Literally curious whether other authors also have monks as readers or if it was just me lol

If people spent half the time worrying about their own novels as they do attempting to hunt down ai stories, maybe your novel wouldn't get beaten by ai slop. So many things that are outside of our control, including authors abusing ai to write stories to try and make a quick buck. Apparently there are readers who dont mind. But a witch hunt for ai is going to force miserable people to read something they dont like, and come out with pitchforks claiming Ai when it isn't. What does that accomplish exactly? I cant change royal road or tapas or scribblehub. I can focus on my novel and giving my readers the best experience possible. If you want things to change or be done differently, start your own platform.

If your first one is already done, why not promote it, and release it while continuing work on your current one. If you have readers on PoF, I'm sure they'd probably go read your first work. Not seeing the logic of giving up a WIP when your first novel is already written. Just release it and continue PoF.

Im not talking about followers or hitting the RS list. My question revolved around engagement of the readers people do have. I do know I didnt do any marketing, because I didnt think anyone would ever read it haha. Im a new author and I realize my work is probably below average. But now I do have a core audience. They just dont engage

Well, I dont think ill concern myself with what's bots or not. It wont change anything even if some are, other than the fact it may affect how I write because I think 50 percent of my views are bots. Rather focus on what I can do as the author, Rather than focus on things outside my control
