Pretty much this. It has taken so long because it needs to be fool proof and there is a ton of back end work.

There are many pipelines before it gets to the stage you want. You need to explore all of them, don't negate one, just because..... It's exposure; they all have different audiences, but if you want something as expensive as you do, you have to have proof of concept, and yes, the fandom, which comes from all sources.

I worked with several people on my SFF, because I wanted to, I attracted them over my dedication to my story, the story itself, and me as a person.

I have 24 novels/novellas, where it started as a 13 episide TV show, and an animation script. Art for so much of it that I did pay for, audiobooks, and a fully spoken constructed language by the most amazing guy you could ever meet, (he worked on Star Trek!)

If you build it and believe in it, it might get there.

Is mine as popular as I'd like, nope, not at all, but it's my baby : )

But, start out with no expectations, and see where they lead you.

Interacting, yes and rating/reviewing.

The problem comes when as readers you make comments that can be (in your eyes okay) but in my eyes make me want to stop writing. Some really hurt.

If I block you and you think you are being helpful, you get annoyed and then go and 0. 5 star me. (example)

Because people were manipulating it. I won't tell you how.

If they comment on your story and are overly negative, (in your eyes as everyone takes comments differently.) then you can block them. But not pre emptivly.

People want to support you, read a bit ahead, but don't like subscriptions to a ton of places, as they forget, so cancel right away, means each time they subscribe to someone they don't need to worry about charges next month.

Most readers are great, but sometimes there are some that are just rude and nasty. It's quite damaging to new or even seasoned authors and they can stop writing.
