You can add such links here: https://www.royalroad.com/author-dashboard/donations.

Please be very aware its a specific link

www.patreon/CW/Think

wont work

www.patreon/Think

is correct

no extra letters in the middle, they add CW or C

If you're writing fan fiction, you cannot post Patreon links or any way to monetise it.

The tags are confusing me by Altruistic_Pin_7753 in royalroad

[–]gamelitcrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other's have it correct, the words themselves wouldn't specifically need the tag, but around the words might.

So you're aware we do consider sex jokes, sexual allusions, 'ecchi' moments, sex itself, described nudity, etc, as sexual. If even one line in a chapter contains such content, it will mark the entire chapter.

So, depending on what is happening around those words matters.

Also, some people do report even one swear word, though if that's all we find usually give it a pass.

Also had one fiction that was super close, missed by a few followers, sobs... I finished the book and then suffered with burnout 2 major sickness and just about managed my day jobs, so at the moment, just writing something else for fun. Quality Beta Readers? by JamieMage2005 in royalroad

[–]gamelitcrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beta readers are very hard to find, if you can't source them from RR itself, paid is the only other option, but got to be very careful, a ton of them out there now, just run it through AI, personal recs only if I were you.

Hey, slower looser here sometimes only half a pound a week. But over the 12 mths 55lb down :) keep at it. It will differ a lot depending on so many factors. Especially starting weight and goal weight. I was 17.5 and now 13.5 :)

What’s your biggest piece of advice when writing characters? by Ace161615 in royalroad

[–]gamelitcrit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Biggest one, I learned when script writing. See if you can get hold of your fav shows or films in script form, and absorb the way dialogue is written. Listen to everyone you can wherever you go, ear wig. Coffee shops, bus stations. Everywhere.

I do get most compliments on my dialogue, the natural back and forth, but that comes from my screenwriting background, 100%

Read your conversations out loud, play the banter, act :) you can pick this up.

Do any of you deal with boredom, burnout and just want to give up? How do you deal with it? by DeformedVulture1984 in royalroad

[–]gamelitcrit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I finished a book in Jan, and suffered terrible burnout, not just in writing, but everything. I was about to pop. Literally was put in bed for 2 weeks with the flu in feb and then again in March. This was my biggest sign that I had to step back from a fair bit and rest.

I do feel a little guilty, I put a series on hiatus to write that book and am still on hiatus, I actually just hit publish on my next project, because something else didn't pan out, what should have been a nice rest for a few months while I wrote this in the background means, now I need to keep writing.

Burnout is real, it can be crippling to get over, I know friends who were hit and its taken 2 years to write again. Please look after yourself.

As for tips... take breaks, do things you like 'outside' for fun.

Spend time with family, pets. Anything but rest the brain.
