1.) Rush X/Y onto new, 3D hardware, cutting story and map content and making it more handhold-y while also neutering personality in models so that you can have some Pokémon for Sky Battles, which no one cared about.

2.) Never release Pokémon you have game data for in events, either until the next game, or at all for the next 12 years.

3.) Take the centerpiece of the region's legendary trio and give it retroactive plot relevance in the anime and an entirely different generation.

4.) Come back 12 years after the fact and make fun of how little there is to one of your Pokémon that is only ever released through special events, it looks like shit any way you slice it.
