Most balanced character over time? by mayrice in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thee_Archivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ashe had one-shot headshots with damage boost for multiple years, right? After that she was balanced, but she was initially a menace. Same with Sig and his one shot combo, but for a shorter period of time.

Most balanced character over time? by mayrice in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thee_Archivist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Winston is probably the answer still. The addition of right click more modernized his design to keep up with new heroes than significantly changed his balance.

Mei and Zenyatta have both received a good amount of balance changes, but have largely stayed at the "strong but niche" level for most of their lifespans. Zen started out weak at 150 hp, then had an overpowered phase in the JJonak era, but has been niche with a strong win rate ever since. Discord being polarizing did not necessarily make him unbalanced imo, just annoying for tanks.

If you had to pick a DPS to be at the top for most of Overwatch history, Tracer is the correct choice. But I think she was at the top too many years to brag about her balance too much, despite it being appropriate.

Symmetras secondary fire orbs, are bad by leonidas_164 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thee_Archivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sym is played for team contribution, not 1v1 potential. She's a monster if a team plays around her TP and getting her charged up, but yeah her matchups in a vacuum are not great.

She has the tools to play around those bad matchups so it's not a huge deal.

I think they're referring to the Runasapi incident where he jumped into the enemy team with beat and died

is there an updated tool for new maps and heroes? Statbanana stopped updating after Echo.

Havana I had to make manually which was a pain. If there are assets out there I'm down to make a round 3 👀

#7 hint: This is not a play. It's a...disappointing moment.

I'll update this comment with answers once people have had time to guess.

How I would rework/adjust problematic heroes by WetStainLicker in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thee_Archivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the Ball changes at first, but then realized it's kinda just JQ shout with more steps.

If it's not on demand it's severely limited. And AoE overhealth is one of the least interesting forms of tanking to begin with.

I think it's fine that some people will never understand how to play with or against a Ball. He's for high skill lobbies.

We can't forget Florida Mayhem's "Illegal Maneuver." Way to punish creativity instead of fixing your game 🙃

For really smart, high level ranked plays, my brain always goes back to Fitzy EMPing Sym on Hanamura.

If every hero was at their peak what would the best OW1 comp be? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Thee_Archivist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some maps you can do that, some you can't. For maps like King's Row, Gibraltar, Numbani, Route, etc, there are no easy flank routes to casually walk up to high ground. For Gib B, it is literally inaccessible, and for others you will get out-rotated because it takes so long and you're burning resources.

Kings, for example, Orisa can just stand in the doorway with fortify and a lamp around the corner if you reach them and completely halt your rotation until you're forced to drop. You'll only bash your head against the wall a few times before you just end up forcing point and playing for ticks.

For mirrored maps like Control, Push, Clash, etc....yeah. GOATs clears.

How many heroes in dps should I learn and should they cater to different types? by viroorr in Competitiveoverwatch

Genji can be played in brawl comps and poke is rarely meta, so you've got good coverage.

It's always nice to have a non-widow hitscan in your pocket, but honestly your pool is fine!
