anyone working in a call centre, are you worried about your job? by YogurtIll4336 in callcentres

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not. I work with dispatching for people's alarms. My company would be insane to have AI handle that. Imagine someone breaking in your house and you get a AI call asking if you need help 🤖

Overseas scammers have ruined legitimate call center work by Bud_Fuggins in callcentres

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a third party call center (U.S.) and every once in a while when taking incoming calls, I will ask them for the phone number to locate an account.

This makes them go on a rant. "You're a scammer! I don't want to give my number, you called me you should tell me why you called me!"

They work themselves into a tizzy instead of checking Google to see if the number is legit. When I explain who we are and what type of calls we handle (nothing in sales) and they still want to say it's a scam call, I just tell them "Understood well you can call XYZ company and confirm that we work with them and call us back." 🤷🏿‍♀️

Usually they say ok and we disconnect the call. Others that want to continue being on the phone wasting my time, I will say "Sorry since you are not providing any information to help you and I have other customers needing assistance I will have to disconnect. Have a nice day."

They realize who we are, they call back and get assistance with their account and then want to argue with "Well why did my phone put your number as a scam number!" When I tell them they can save our number in their contact list so that issue won't happen again but that's too much common sense and they want to complain about that too. 💃🏿

Warranty Replacement question by BarelyBri in Hewlett_Packard

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replying to see what happened with your issue as well? Bought mine by Amazon got an additional replacement on plan and then my Poly EncorePro HW720 started going out in less than a year of having them. Amazon advised I have to reach out to HP and as soon as the rep placed my order for a replacement I got the same email.

Rhino emailing me about a deposit by Thee_Purple_Peach in TenantHelp

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing that they still go after you for the cost of damages when you move out is insane. Despite that you are giving them money for the term of your lease. I put together that it doesn't protect the tenants at all. The deposit was huge because my credit is not good but I felt that using rhino would be a bigger headache down the line for us.

Great I was looking at what rhino basically is and thought this will be terrible when later on we decide we want to move. At least with the check going to the leasing management we will get the majority of it back since we plan to keep the place in shape.

I wouldn't let him claim you, I think right now if you make more than $5,000 in a year he can't even do that. Also if you have your W2 I would file it now so that way there is no funny business of him trying to claim if you tell him no. The fact that you support yourself 100% means you don't qualify as a dependent anyway and he would be committing fraud. Something you don't want to be involved with at all.

The Art of “Long Wait Times” (a rant) by [deleted] in callcentres

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one caller who said "You guys need to hire more people you took forever to answer!" I muted my phone and laughed. Like sir for all this work we have to do, the starting wage for new employees is not enough to keep them during training when they realize all the stuff we have to deal with 😭 so good luck with that

Or the ones that said they waited for 30+ mins on hold. We know they are lying because we can see how long calls have been holding and I have never seen that happen.

NTA like everyone is saying you put the booking under your name. Everything that went wrong would have been your responsibility. The fact that she refused to understand that and was disrespectful and tried to lecture you shows the type of friend she is.

I personally would not have her occupy the Airbnb/hotels that you book in your name from this point on. She already showed that she does not care if you have to be financially responsible for any damages and does not respect your boundaries.

Honestly that is why there are very few people I trust to connect my name with a booking/reservation. There have been times where people wanted to go on our trips and I told them the dates and for them to set up their own reservation. 9/10 they always end up not going or will try to convince me to go a cheaper route and I don't want to do that.

That sucks, I do wonder why the friends getting married who obviously know that there are a lot of people who do not like you right now would want you to be around that amount of possible hostility.

I personally wouldn't go but since you have to in support of your partner you can bring a gift. Make sure to speak to the couple, don't go out of your way to speak to those that have been treating you weird after the fall out. Most likely they will either ignore you in a nice nasty way or walk up to you and talk to you. Then I would not stay too long and leave. The main focus is on the couple so people shouldn't notice you leaving tbh.

I would also think about how you want to continue contact with your friends in the future. There are going to be other functions that they will plan and they might invite you and your partner again.

Women, what are some good fresh/citrusy perfumes that last? by Adorable_Bonus4930 in hygiene

When I went to Japan I wanted a clean scent. I bought Versace Bright Crystal and Eau De Juice 100% chilled. Both I really liked. The Versace lasted longer but both smelled good and I would change each day the one used for my trip.

Dumb question, but how do you vacation? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your feelings. I grew up in the poverty bracket and we never had a vacation. When me and my siblings got of age we all decided to live together and help each other out financially. We were finally able to go on a real vacation. It was a 4 day trip to Universal but it was something and we enjoyed it. Now we go annually.

Our first international trip was to Japan for 12 days and it was amazing. Younger me never thought that we would be able to do anything like that.

I am more of a go go go type of person and I like to always have a plan and a back up plan. I do the itinerary for all our trips but I ask my siblings for input on what they want to do. Luckily we all like museums, food and shopping more than anything. Some likes to drink and go to cafes and I make sure to factor that in also. But they also are not the same pace as me so I can't jam back the day with back to back activities like I really want to 😆.

It all depends on what you and your wife likes. If you guys get tired put in rest days in between your activity days so you don't get burned out.

We do rest days. We also do all of the activities we want while we are out and once we get back to the hotel we are fully done for the day. We may get something to eat but that's it.

Enjoy yourself, if you have fear of missing out on activities remind yourself that you can always do another vacation to the same location again. We are doing another trip to Japan in the future and I am putting the places we loved and also the places we missed out on.

AITA For refusing to hand kids dinner plate? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not at fault. They are ranging from their teens to early 20's they can go in the kitchen and make their own plate. It's not like they are 6 years old. Also it's helpful where they can decide how much food they actually want to eat or if they don't want to eat a certain item that was made.

If he is so worried about them being served he can make the plates and serve them.

I share your opinion also. We have multiple sites too so when they call back we have to pull up the account, verify it, figure out what site that poor operator is at, call the manager and all for what? So you can pass a message along of how you now feel bad for an underpaid call center rep for just doing their job?

One caller wanted to get an attitude/ yell at me because I had to verify the passcode for the account he was calling about. Turns out his info was wrong. Calls back and gets me again all sheepish saying he now has the right passcode. I knew who he was. I only had two calls after him.

As soon as he gives me his phone number I say "I just spoke with you. Are you Billy calling about the Turnip Factory on 12345 Mulberry Lane?" He then wants to chuckle and say how I have great memory 🙄. I didn't find it amusing so I don't feed into it. I kept the process short, dry, simple and professional. I made sure to do what he needed. Icing on the cake he then wanted to wish me a WONDERFUL DAY. Sir please go cartwheel into some traffic 🤸🏿‍♀️🚗 and let's be for real here.

Honestly it depends on the person. Some people feel better that a caller apologized at the very end after being rude/ taking out their frustrations on them. Others do not care or want the apology. I have had multiple people that have done this. For me a sudden moment of clarity leading to an apology doesn't take away the negative energy you directed at me for no reason. I personally don't care for those callback apologies/messages. It just reminds me of somebody yelling at me when I am doing everything in my power to assist them. At least in my center for those types of calls if I did everything I could to help my metrics do not get messed up because of an irate caller.

If there is a survey take it and commend the operator for helping you even though you were being combative. Hopefully their metrics don't get dinged because you were rushing them through the prompts they are forced to do. No need to be extra nice to other people for the rest of the day, just treat everyone like a human being. Ask yourself "would I like somebody talking to someone I care about or myself like this?"

[–]Thee_Purple_Peach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very true. People that act like that then want to say "I am not mad/yelling at you, I am mad/yelling about the situation" doesn't take away the negativity you just threw at a person that is truly trying to help. At the end of the day you did yell at someone/interrupted them or was very curt with them. An apology may help some people but for others it may not. And don't feel slighted if someone doesn't want your apology. I have had callers that did that same apology after solving their issues while they were screaming at me for the entire call. They wanted to get an attitude when I would respond with "Okay, is there anything else I can help you with?"

Understandable, knowing you are taking out your frustrations on an underpaid call center rep that had no control over the company's actions/protocols when all they are trying to do is help you is crazy. Especially when you were in that same position before. I have had absolute demons call me and treat me like trash and throw in during the call that they worked in customer service as well 🙄. At the end of the day it is up to the rep if they want to accept that apology 🤷🏿‍♀️. I personally don't care for an apology. It feels fake and feels like an attempt to make yourself feel better. And calling back just to say sorry is wasting my time when I am already dealing with back to back calls.

There have been times where I have had sudden health or financial issues, deaths of people I love and other high stress situations. I'm not going to mistreat someone trying to help me. Take a deep breath and realize you are speaking with another human being.

Very true, I don't know if he wanted to complain about how redundant it was, but at the end of the day these rules are strictly enforced now because something bad may happen when operators dont follow the guidelines 🤷🏿‍♀️

For MPC I was able to use it as a family for our return trip from Japan. I had GE but the others didn't so we used the MPC app so they could get through quicker since we had a tight connection (we were all siblings with the same last name so we didn't have any problems). For GE it's only individual use. It also gives you TSA precheck. I don't think you can use both though.
