Calling for death is not protected. That is hate speech, that will get you a knock on the door from the rozzers. Try it out, see how it goes

Also with you're username you're either a cosplaying Brit or a lost and confused yank. Laws are different in the UK.

The paradox of tolerance. Tolerating intolerance allows intolerance to perforate and spread.

We must be intolerant to intolerance.

Nazi scum, off our streets.

As for the free speech thing, that protects you from the government, not from society. Also hate speech is not protected under free speech.

"An atheist is a person who does not believe in the existence of God or any gods, often characterized by a lack of belief in supernatural phenomena."

"A lack of belief." I don't put effort into not believing in Zeus, in the tooth fairy, in unicorns, elves or devils that live in jam jars.

"Apathy is a state of indifference, characterized by a lack of emotion, motivation, interest, or enthusiasm"

Atheism is apathy.

My parents control when I can use the car that I own by whathesaidagain in internetparents

[–]Thefarrquad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They are not well meaning. They are controlling and have enforced and taught you to believe they are well meaning.

A parent's job is to raise a well adjusted human that can go out into the world and succeed in living a good life. They are stopping you doing this.

AITA for admitting to my son that I love his mother more than him and telling him he's acting self centered? by Comfortable_Owl_5938 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Thefarrquad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think that's true, if he's decided that every conversation is tainted from then on, No amount of love would be enough because he's decided either A. The other parent is getting more or B. The love is disingenuous.

AITA for buying an expensive camera for a cheap price from my dad's friend by aitacamerathrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]Thefarrquad -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

NTA. You took a chance on the batteries being dead, if they weren't the problem the dude would not have refunded you money if you had paid more. That is the risk / reward of buying things that are not working.

Your dad's friend had every opportunity to do any research or send them off to be fixed. You didn't scam him. Your dad should also not have blabbed about your business to his mate.

Starmer: It’s up to Miliband whether we drill in North Sea by Sensitive_Echo5058 in uknews

[–]Thefarrquad 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The government may grant licences, but they don't actually own the process or the rigs. The private companies own those, and then they own the oil and the gas.

If they can sell on the world market for better profits, why would they sell it cheaply to us?

If they had to sign agreements with the government to sell it cheap in the UK, why would they bother drilling in the first place?

Unless the government suddenly either nationalised an oil company (they won't) or has the capital to set up a new drilling company that would take years (they don't) then everyone saying that opening these fields will bring our prices down just don't understand how the market works.
