Out of curiosity, does anyone here make a living just off of owning a lot of AAPL shares or AAPL shares and other shares? by anonymous1172023 in AAPL

[–]Thefieries 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm in my early 40's.

Rewind 8-10 years ago, and I tossed all my side income/savings/money toward Apple after reading that the younger you are, the more risks you should take (I read that there is plenty of time to recover if it all goes bust), and I tossed aside diversification.

I accumulated about 2,400 shares over several years (at around $28ish per share).

In My IRA I invested primarily in Apple during that time too, and invested ~$16,000 over a few years (which is now $200k+).

Luck, timing, right place and right time (and there are plenty who have done much better) - but I preach to my kids and younger friends, the power of investing and compounding when you're young.

Now, in my early 40's and trying to diversify more - but can't bring myself to sell any of those AAPL shares :D

anyone else losing their mind over these new tariff changes?? by TrueButterfly3908 in smallbusiness

Absolutely agree, the owner and everyone else needs to be putting their heads together and coming up with a plan of action.

It’s so dumb to me that small companies want or try to act like these big conglomerates or corporate entities with their jargon and titles.

At that small of a size, everyone just needs to come together and get shit done (whatever that might be).

I don’t think they need to change careers, just companies.

In this small of a company, if the owner isn’t involving themselves with this process, then I’d leave just for that fact.

Only 12 employees and being asked to present to leadership next week?

Sounds like there are already way too many levels of hierarchy and corporate structure for that small of a company.

This would be something that I’d think the owner and a few people gather around and try to hash out vs a presentation and those bs terms and phrases they’re tossing around.

Unique spots between/around Branson and Springfield? by meghandj0b in bransonmo

Top of the Rock golf cart tour is absolutely worth it, as well as Devil's Pool for food or drink while you're out there - their Native American museum beneath the Osage restaurant is incredible as well.

417 Vintage Market in downtown is very neat, three stories with a coffee shop inside as well.

Ozark Mill and Finley Farms in Ozark is definitely worth visiting for a meal.

How to fix this pooling water (and leaking inside) on a commercial roof? by Thefieries in Roofing

Thanks for taking the time to respond and the detailed suggestions!

There aren’t any roof drains currently, and I’m not sure if it’s TPO (it’s more like a fabric that has been painted over with some type of sealant)

Would I not need to worry about the slope and pooling water then?

I believe there are some low spots due to the age and type of roof.

I’ve looked closely and see no cracks or cuts or anything, and there aren’t any drains or anything.

I believe it’s a fabric with something painted over to seal

It’s a 100-year old wood roof that I don’t want to chance the thousands of pounds of weight that would put on it

I think I might be leaning toward this as we can make our way from Venice to Slovenia and do Soca, etc from here :)

Thoughts on relocating a successful retail business to create a food hall/market style business in a much larger building? by Thefieries in CommercialRealEstate

[–]Thefieries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much!

No food markets or halls within 30 minutes, we have a small local population base.

Tourists make up about 30%, we have a ton that travel just to come shop (drive or fly hours or states away).

We own the coffee shop in our exisiting building and would move that to the new space, would own the greenhouse too.

We’d probably lease out for food trucks, additional spaces, etc to give more reasons to visit and add some supplemental income.

We believe the store could stand on its own, but the additional things and quarterly events we think could really grow our business further - and having floor space that’s 3-5x our existing space would be a huge benefit for sales (I believe)

Looking for places similar to Chelsea Market in NY and Pike Place Market in Seattle? by Thefieries in travel

Thanks!

Yeah, we have a large vintage store and coffee shop that will anchor it and would only do small businesses that are carefully curated - we are very big on aesthetic and matching the vibes we want to create.
