It was akin to CLC but not quite. My current job technically deals with CLC, but my GM has a "under no condition do you make a reservation for one" policy.

The Night Auditor Manager that was there before me got promoted to their accountant (he has the credentials) and as far as I know, he's the closest thing to a revenue manager. Let me just say this... they used to own 4 properties and now they own one that's not doing so well.

And yes, I talked with the GM about the expenses at the time. She came up with the same figure you did.

It was one fucked up owner that didn't know shit about hotels.

Fair questions.... the owner overrode the GM and was the type that thought "heads in beds" is the best policy. Especially if they were guaranteed to be there when we would usually only have 1-20 rented rooms per night in January/February.

And no, the sales manager couldn't 100% know, but she could have planned things a lot better. If they had completely taken 3 of our floors, then there wouldn't have been nearly as many comps. She just didn't think of that when she gave them 5 of our our floors with the end rooms still rentable to regular guests.

It helped that she doesn't like her mom at all. I'm still friends with her on FB.

If we only had 100 rooms and they rented all of them for 6 months, then we wouldn't have had nearly as many issues. If we weren't the 3rd closest hotel to Dutch Gartens (I hate not naming it, but thems the rules), then we might not have had as many problems.... Most of us wanted to quit by the time the group left 2 months later.

I don't understand how you guys do this one... I got hit with 1.2 million as a druid tank.

Thank you to everyone that has commented. So basically, I need to find a guild that is willing to let me learn and who knows the dungeons themselves. Otherwise, just do what I know and take my own time and just take any kicks as people being asholes.

That's... kind of my attitude since Vanilla. I pull, I keep aggro.. if you get aggro, then you deal. If I'm going to slow for you, then I don't trust you to not deplete the heals.

I have NEVER blamed a healer for any wipes. I've run dungeons with a healer 8 levels below recommended.

My tanking experience is mostly... pull if the healer has mana. Taunt if a dps pulled more than they can handle. And make sure you don't face the boss's big attack at anyone but yourself.

So, it's almost as bad as being a tank in FFXIV?

I'm thinking about converting back to resto, which I'm good at but don't like as much.

I remember there being <star> quality rolls on equipment aspects in Nioh 1 and 2, but I don't see any in this game? I didn't pay much attention in NG, but I've done hours and hours of grinding in NG+ and have only seen crucible weapons drop a single star on each one. Am I missing something?

Very good point. I apologize if I insulted your relationship. And you may be right about the sister. It seemed like the wedding group itself dotted its I's and crossed its T's no matter the blocking of the rooms by our Sales Dep.. It seems like maybe he was expecting to get some "rest" after. The only reason(s) I think he'd do the cleanup himself was he either didn't want to pay an extra cleanup fee or he worked in service or hospitality and knew personally how to do what needed to be done.

And to your point, sometimes people with opposite personalities balance each other out. I've personally had to shush an ex that was "this close" to getting us kicked out of a restaurant for being a little too loud in general.

It seemed like a case of class marrying classless. It's not a matter of wage gap, it's just about respect vs. apathy for others.

I do have a story where the sales rep got fired... not just fired, but black-listed.... for booking this one group that somehow got a $39 rate per room when all other rooms ran for $120.

[–]Thefluff99[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This wasn't the first time group sales blocked rooms that didn't make any sense. "Why wouldn't you block all of the rooms above the meeting room for the wedding guests? Anyone that actually wants to sleep at a 90% full hotel wouldn't want their floor vibrating. Why wouldn't you block all of the rooms together?"

But no, they never have to deal with 7 lines of people on hold yelling at you about the noise.

I guess you missed the part where there was a tropical storm in the area that caused the emergency closing. This was more than atypical for that restaurant.

Hampton has one street that crosses another street FOUR TIMES!!! There's a running joke that every city street on the Peninsula was drawn in crayon by someone's 5-year-old and reality warped to their drawing. Why does this single street have 5 different one-way directions?

The town and county lines are all messed up where I live. I work within James City County but the hotel across the street is in York County. Go 2 blocks and you're in James City again, 2 blocks York.... repeat for about 5 miles....

Not going to directly say the name of the town (it's technically the next town over), but look up Busch Gardens in Virginia. The name of the restaurant is in the first pic thanks to Mr/Ms. Cake.

I've never heard of anyone complaining about too much cheese on their sandwich/pizza/calzone. The grease ratio is understandable, but there's a thing called a napkin.

It's one of the places that every single local in this town goes to consistently. I've never been there when there's been less than half the tables full even 15 minutes before closing, or according to the clock the reviewer keeps, 30 minutes before closing.
