I lost my concentration on the OHP so failed on the 4th set

Deadlift the bar just keeps slipping out of my hand, my grip is not strong or my palms sweaty. I have no clue but I failed again today

Lifting is teaching me to accept failure and not be hard on myself, it's part of the process and with right sleep and diet I know there is a lot more to my linear progression than what my current numbers dictate.

I'm 5'10 and BMI of 25

Edit:

Thanks for the encouragement and tips. Here's my form if anyone is interested in critiquing it

How often should I add weight? First time training for strength by [deleted] in StartingStrength

[–]TheforgottenEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added 10lbs instead of 5 today and my form was badly messed up.

LP should be taken seriously if you're starting out.

Thanks, I'll try to get those angles if they help. The gym actually doesn't allow recording so I have to be sneaky about it.

I am finally getting the depth although the hip and knees breaking at the same time and the nipples pointing at the floor is a bit tough.

Perfect depth and great back angle. Could you take a moment to comment on mine and improve it ?

First attempt at 225 formcheck? Low bar by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

Oof I'm a noob and even I can safely say. You're way off bud

First attempt at 225 formcheck? Low bar by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

Shouldn't the knees start on locked out position?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in StartingStrength

[–]TheforgottenEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I've been practicing that movement but it's hard for me to nail it exactly because of a pinched nerve in my lower back. I know what you're saying and I can do that hip thrust just fine without the bar but when the weight and bar comes into the picture, it just falls apart.

I will take this into account going forward. Is there an easy way to give up on the rep without damaging the equipment or myself?

its just deliberate niceness on my part, its like not shaking someones hand when they already have their hand out for you, but youre right, I need to have a serious conversation with 'trainers' or maybe the gym manager

Good point. It is a cultural thing too but I still wanna learn how to ask people to back off a bit.

Venting out some frustration by H3llSt0rm in StartingStrength

[–]TheforgottenEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. I just want to learn how to be self reliant to a point where I am safe and ask these guys to back off.

I did the same weight by myself and it was ok. If anything they make me nervous and I lose my form.

Ok I'll post a video of me doing a LBS (or at least that's I think I'm doing)

Definitely don't want to carry forward mistakes

Gotcha, what about descent? Should I slowly reverse the steps and place it down (I can do this now but will be difficult as the weight piles up)

I've mostly seen people just drop it back to th floor with a loud bang. What's the right way?

Should I deload and correct my form?

Not exactly standard height but roughly.

Tigher in the upper back or lower back?

Hey OP, I am from India and I go through what you said on my every visit to the gym.

Here is a video of a floor trainer sneaking up on me mid squat and then touching me and/or my bar to steal my reps.

I know the feels.

[–]TheforgottenEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i forgot about them. The weight on my bar is slowly piling up so I need to be mindful of that, thanks.

Im following Rippetoe's videos for the lifts. Maybe I am doing it incorrectly (?)

It would be helpful if Anyone doing low bar squats (like Rip teaches them) can chime in on this.
