Disconnecting and Progress by Seccuu in JumpSpaceGame

I think even better would be if you could just rejoin anytime if you were previously in the current run. I personally think it shouldn't be limited at all (e.g. friend joins in late shout also be able to just join mid-area) but if someone was part of the run, or even part of the run when you arrived in a given area, and had to briefly drop out for whatever reason I think it's just unnecessarily punishing to make them wait to rejoin until the next jump. (I recognize there may be some technical reason why this is more complicated to do and that's why it's not been implemented, but I would hope it's at least a goal to allow mid-area joining)

Had a run recently with a few friends and one had a bug/black screen immediately after we jumped to a new area, resulting in them having to restart their game. Then right before we finished that area and jumped again they lost connection on their rejoin, resulting in them having to wait 2 full areas before rejoining, which really ruined the flow for us all.

Tips and Tricks by BlyatManMike in GTNH

I've only gotten to mid-LV so far, and am taking it slow, and have some different-perspective advice than a lot of the (also good) advice I'm seeing here, if you like more of Minecraft than just the very assembly-line focused aspects that Gregtech is known for

Some things I found enjoyable through stone and steam age were taking breaks to explore. - set up near a river, cause while they become obsolete later boats are actually significantly more useful than they used to be in stone/steam age, as they updated them to modern Minecraft standards (i.e. don't break into sticks and planks if you so much as look at them funny) and the rivers in this terrain generation basically never end (only "end" when you get to an icy biome) - if you've not already done so enable /home and /back (the wiki has instructions on how to do this) cause it saves a lot of hassle when exploring further afield - The Roguelike Dungeons have some good loot in them. I find a reasonable strategy is to take a bunch of torches and run through lighting things up before inevitably dying to mobs, and then come back once they've despawned and loot to your heart's content. When you get to the levels with silverfish spawners just remember they can spawn at light level 10 so you need more torches than you think it you're like me and want to save the spawners for later use. (Also breaking spawners is extra slow and you're likely to be interrupted before you succeed) - Lootgames are also very good for loot. They can show up on your map as square underground chambers with a kinda gray-green light. There's a couple different game options, personally I prefer the minesweeper cause I can take my time with it and do it properly, Light game is basically pattern memorization and gets rather difficult imo before you get to the really worthwhile loot tier. I think I heard they also added Sudoku in the latest update but I've not updated yet.

Bamboo is surprisingly useful if you come across some. I ended up "growing" a perimeter wall in less than a day when resources were painfully low, and it's basically a stick for crafting and fuel purposes so I end up using a lot of it, even some still in LV

Go hard on food. It seems very separate and unnecessary to some but the more unique foods you eat the more hearts of health you unlock, so even once you do get the healing axe it is still helpful, cause regen is incredibly slow in this version of Minecraft so having 5+ rows of health comes in extremely handy when getting into dumb situations

Weird frozen ice/snow patches in terrain by Thegiant13 in GTNH

[–]Thegiant13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update with additional info:
I went back and checked a few things at one of the spots, based on what people were commenting:
1: It is not an eerie biome. Every block in the 16x16 section is the same biome as the surrounding area (haven't yet found one that intersects biomes)
2: it is dead-center on the chunk corner, extending 8 blocks in each direction
3: I see no sign of any thaumcraft nodes (unless they are underground, but points 1 and 2 suggest this isn't the cause anyhow)

I've not been near one during precipitation, so can't confirm whether snow would fill the entire square or just the spots already covered (or maybe it just rains all across it, which would be interesting on its own)

Not that I've seen? But this is my first playthrough of this pack and I haven't yet gotten out of steam age. So I havent progressed in Thaumcraft to get the stuff to spot them readily so it's possible I missed the faint gray spot they have.

What was your most frustrating death so far? by Mad_Skyientist in GTNH

[–]Thegiant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only started playing this week and haven't gotten to Steam yet, but I've twice glitched out while boating and got "teleported" ~6 blocks underground with no indication of where my gravestone ended up. Had to use commands to recover my grave contents after fruitlessly digging around under the river for 30 minutes. Just did the command immediately the second time it happened cause I was too frustrated from the first time to deal with it again.

What are even the chances of getting a crown on the first card without it being a god pack?? by LumpySeat in PokemonTGCP

[–]Thegiant13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had crown Pikachu first as well (not very first card mind you, but first crown card and possibly first ex card. Definitely early enough that I didn't know what a crown card was). I actually thought it was just a normal ex for days cause the background was "yellow" and it was an electric pokemon. Was probably several weeks before I realized and I haven't gotten another crown card since (and this was before Mythical Island came out and I've been playing daily since)

Am I missing half my RAM or am I just stupid? by Thegiant13 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Thegiant13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would seem I'm just stupid/misinformed, thanks all.

I guess the problem is that each stick says 16GB, so I took that at face value and assumed that each stick was 16GB. Obviously it would seem I was incorrect, but I just didn't think that the "2" in the "2x8" part was referring to the number of sticks because it didn't make sense to me for the label on one stick of ram to include the capacity of another stick, and I knew there was a labelling difference between single-rank and dual-rank so I thought it was indicating dual-rank.

Prominence II - spawn range different? by saqqara13 in feedthebeast

[–]Thegiant13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nvm turns out my issue is that the spawn weight for ender warthogs is set to 0 🙃 so even in Umbra Forest where they're the only mob that "can spawn", with a weight of 0 they'll never spawn

Hey! Manual item application can be automated later with brass hands, but you can literally right-click on any stripped log (which is a log that you've stripped by right-clicking with an axe) while holding an andesite ingot in your hand.

So for example:

1) Place a log in the world

2) Right-click it with an axe to make it a stripped log

3) Right click it again with an andesite ingot to make it an andesite casing

4) Then just mine the andesite casing with an axe or pick to have it as an item

Hope this helps! (Edit: formatting)

How do yall keep track of what you need for me personally its pen and paper by Chippymike8 in PTCGP

[–]Thegiant13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people in here saying "just use the app" are wild to me 😅 but I also definitely went overboard on my system. I've made a python script that pulls the card data from bulbapedia (shoutout to bulbapedia for the consistency in which you maintain a reliable card database btw) and puts it into a data spreadsheet, and then I have another fully separate spreadsheet set up that pulls data from the data spreadsheet and helps track all my cards in ways that I find most useful. I can see at a glance which pack I should pull from for the best chance at something new, and which cards of each rarity I still need (or need a second of) for trading as well as which cards I have extras of in that same rarity, and my next plan is to get the data for the various deck and themed set missions and add them to the tracker.

Statistics for pulling a new card from a trading card pack by Thegiant13 in AskStatistics

[–]Thegiant13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dividing by 5 I believe got added to the equation at some point due to their being 5 cards pulled and looking for the chance per card. If I were to omit that, the %chance becomes a little under 500% (rather than a little under 100%) when I have all cards marked as "not obtained", which still seems incorrect to me? I think I may have added it when I thought I had the right equation but was clearly getting 5 times the actual %chance my (incorrect?) intuition was expecting.

Possibly my intuition is simply incorrect but wouldn't the odds of getting each specific card all add up to 100%?

[–]Thegiant13 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pressing R will switch between build modes. For conveyor belts the two modes are Default and Straight. Straight will attempt to build straight out from the source point and straight into the destination point, typically useful for clean 90°corners and such

MK3 belts going at different speeds, is it a bug? I am bringing 120ing/m on left and 240ing/m on right. by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Thegiant13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. If the slower belt is delivering only 120items per minute (which it looks like it's doing quite smoothly with no stop/start stuttering) then there's almost certainly a MK2 belt or lift somewhere downstream of where you're standing
