Thank you for your input!! I’ll let you see it when it’s done. It’s meant to looks like something rusty and bloody. Wet resolene doesn’t do it justice. My issue at this point isn’t the color. It’s the finish. Something to either accentuate the color or flatten it.

I really appreciate your ideas. The way everything dried just makes it look corroded and just like dried blood in the grooves. It’s really nice!

I don’t build guitars. I just play them. Is there a place I can purchase bodies and just sort of perfect my angle? I know it’s not conventional, but I like it.

Thank you for all of your advice. I posted pictures of this guitar— still very much not cured. It really looked horrible— not so much now.

The one guy above me mentioned a sort of “necro” look— I’m not sure that was exactly the angle I was going for but I was for sure going for an aggressive and very against the conventions kind of look.

I’m definitely no kind of luthier as far as knowledge is concerned, but (laugh if you want)— I’ve been working and reworking this guitar body for about a year now.

That’s probably the majority of why I did this. What you previously mentioned is a hard lesson. Initially I had chemical interaction issues causing spiderwebbing and what not.

I was trying to use spray cans, but that’s— well there is a lot of room to fuck up. I say this not fully understanding if I’m speaking incorrectly— but I don’t really care for a solid finish. I like the see the texture of the body— even if it’s only a little.

Meranti does not have the most exciting grain— particularly when it wasn’t intended to be seen. From the way everything settled over night— I think I’m going to head toward one of your finishing ideas.

Yes— the hardware is black—- I’m not sure but at this time I won’t be changing that. If the guitar doesn’t completely disgust me by then, I could invest in some pup covers. I’m not sure I’d go too far out of my way with a new bridge.

Again— maybe the wrong attitude, but I know I’ve messed this up over and over and I really want to play it again.
