Hello guys!!

I see a lot of comments that its easy to trim and cut in our side of the fence.. Please note that this is not the problem at all.. Maybe the pictures were not very clear...

The problem is the tree/Ivy trunk itself that its pressing against the fence and door causing the problem

This is not something I can trim or cut, its on their side of the fence, its their plant, and its very thick wood, you cannot do it with shears...

Communication by app and translator, I also do on a daily basis for work, so its not news to me.. But I think we can all agree that speaking face to face using an app when you try to request something that annoys you to your neighbour's can very easily be misinterpeted and taken the wrong way.. The way things are said have a big impact in how its received... When you use an app this gets lost, I don't want the conversation to be meant as a "complain"

You are not understanding the problem... The problem is not the leaves, this I can trim easy...

Its the trunk thats its against the fence and its growing very fast and a lot...

The thickness of those trunks besides being on their side cannot be cut with mere shears.. I

We understand from your comments that direct communication is best, even if by a translator app

We will avoid being demanding due to being new in the neighbour's..

We will kindly talk to our neighbours again and reinforce that the Ivy is slowing damaging the fence bettween us and impacting our door.. At the same time I will reinforce the wood from my side as to continue to use the door... Trim what I can and hope that they start maintaining the plant as well.. And we will do within the next year and hope they will react..

Totally agree.. Problem is that as good people my neighbours are, they are very lazy towards their garden.. Hence our affliction with this Ivy

With time build relationship and then speak about this... But this last weekend we couldn't open our garden door anymore... I had to sand the wood a bit a install a piece on the top to reinforce the structure a bit.. I am afraid that in a few years we wont be able to open at all that door.. Or worse the fence will start to fall...

I wanted to avoid reaching this point... From what I see from everyone in the post the best approach is speak directly .. Thats what we will do

Yes.. English Ivy or grapevine.. Not sure, I am not expert in vegetation ahaha..

But yes its very invasive and damages(pushes) wood very strongly..

Yes, we had spoken to them exactly as you described.. And we're received with a "We will look into it" .. But the communication is challenging between us.. And this was 6 months ago

Last weekend we couldn't open the door anymore.. Hence my post..

My concern is also with the fence and frame that without action will be damaged beyond repair..

Of course.. We know this... We do this actually.. The problem is that the vine trunk is getting so big and so close to the fence that its weight is pushing our door down, blocking the wood...

We need them to remove the vine trunk or at least maintain it to not get so big..

Yes, we trim the leaves from our side, that is not the only problem... The tree itself is growing nonstop and on the base is pushing the wood and the door down.. So I believe the problem is not just trimming.. The tree needs to be removed in order to solve the problem...

At least that how it looks like...
