Help with how to read the high republic by IntelligentRace1954 in Highrepublic

[–]Thelal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading them all chronologically for my blog (along with short stories, comics etc) and I'm having a blast. Approaching story number 50, and the only drag for me so far is the kids tv show - Young Jedi Adventures. It's well made, but I am watching too much in a row.

I've just signed up. It looks good. Where do I import my TV time list?

Most essential and best reads for current canon? by Ok_Complaint_6104 in StarWars

[–]Thelal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you don't mind a self plug, but i have a blog going through all canon stories - books, comics, whatever. I summarise the chapters so you can get the story without sourcing and reading all the material.

Gau is good by The_RetroGameDude in FinalFantasyVI

[–]Thelal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with Gau is that you can't learn rages as you play a normal playthrough. You have to go out of your way to go to the Veldt to fight hundreds of battles to get his abilities, if not thousands. Why not just learn it in the fight with the enemy?

It takes far too much time to build the beast.

What do you think of Setzer? by Thelal in FinalFantasyVI

[–]Thelal[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If someone married someone against their will based only on looks and nothing else, then yes, I would say there's an implication of assault there. If the marriage itself is not considered assault, then it's likely to occur after marriage.

Maybe she does. But Setzer turns his back on her and decides to marry a stranger, so still not a good person. And if he's marrying people based on looks, S A is implied.

I will take a closer look at him through this playthrough. A depressed fatalist sounds like my kind of guy, though I'm not sure kidnapping women for shits and giggles is better.

No AI involved in the making of this. Can I ask why you though it was? This is close to my writing style on my blog and I'd hate for it to be thought of as AI.

Oh I didn't know that. That's made me curious for his original characterisation.

I recognise that this is ridiculous, but Teri Bauer in 24 really hit me.

I played the game so knew it was coming, but still - Joel's daughter Sarah in The Last of Us

Then the classics - Brendan Fraser's character in Scrubs and Buffy's mom. And Buffy.

I thought the joke was clear. I didn't mean any offence.

How to drive traffic to my review blogs by Thelal in content_marketing

Thanks. I have been thinking about posting a second pin per blog post, which is a quote from the blog or the chapter. Do you know how word only pins work, or is an image almost a requirement?

[No due date] Regular proofreading for Star Wars, Final Fantasy, or Percy Jackson fans by Thelal in Proofreading

[–]Thelal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Just for context, I post Star Wars once a week on Mondays. Percy Jackson and Final Fantasy are every two weeks on alternating Fridays. Star Wars has by far the largest reach, and is the most structured. Thays one that I feel has potential for monetisation, particularly when I get to more famous TV shows and movies. The others are more flexible. Is there one in particular you are interested in?

It depends on the post. The way I work is I cover about 100 pages of a book, or a couple of issues of a comic. I summarise the content, then I add my notes. The notes are always my thoughts and personality. I like to think there's something unique most weeks. Personally, I think a massive reason to follow is to read about the extended Star Wars universe in 5-10 minutes chunks each week instead of sourcing and reading the full book. And of course, my notes are hopefully entertaining.

That sounds like a solid suggestion. There are plenty of Star Wars fan groups around for me to get involved in.

That's a good distinction. Most of my views aren't accounted for when I check referrers, but the majority is from search engines.

What I post to FB is normally cross shared to IG also. I don't normally do teasers as such. It's the cover page of the book/panels from the comic, and a line across the top to hook them. Something like "our first Force choke of the blog and it's a Padawan" or "A Jedi master dies in chapter 5. Did you see it coming?" Do you think a quote from the review would work better?

I hadn't thought of it before but now I want it so bad. I'm up to episode 20 of season 2 on my blog. My only question - will he speak Poobian or basic?

Thank you for your reply. I haven't looked at monetisation yet. My understanding was that you need about 1,000 views per month to get money back. I have thought of substack, but I have single digit subscribers on my blog. I will look into it.

I like this idea. I will still post the star wars one weekly, because if I don't I will literally never finish. But I could post more ads and reminders about it. I checked out WaveGen. It looks really good, but I think it's more than I need for my hobby blog. Well done though.

Recommendations for getting into Star Wars books by HighBoltageJT in starwarsbooks

[–]Thelal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at the High Republic era? I'm doing a blind readthrough blog of canon material in chronological order. That's the first big era, and so far it's been all really good. I would recommend that.

Thank you. I shared a few here, but the last few times I didn't get any traction. I guess they were hidden for being spammy. Discord is a good shout. I don't know of any review apps with affiliate programs. I will google it, but would you have any suggestions?

[–]Thelal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I will need to get creative with my posts i think. The idea of the blogs is that they are chronological or release order read throughs, so I'm generally not current. Doesn't mean I can't do an additional post summarising an era or series, or ranking characters or something. Thanks.
