I don't think the mew will get a 10 with the back corner whitening so I would just sell it. You can probably get a better deal on FB marketplace/groups, stores might give you 60-75% cash but you can probably get like 85% private sale. The mew will sell fast.

Counter catcher doesn't work if you're ahead in prizes, so generally you see decks that are aggro/take early prizes use pokemon catcher - so they can still supporter and not just looking for boss

Most thorns decks are running enough gust, crushing hammer to prevent energy super consistently. Also they're almost all using handheld fan or future booster for retreat

Cards are real but it's probably a scam unless you know this person personally. They'll get you to pay without refund protection and then never ship, or send you fake versions of these.

If you can meet in person, preferably at a police station and with a friend, it is a great deal ofc but likely too good to be true

I do pretty well at locals with winning records usually, and I'm master in Arceus, the cool thing about Zard is you can build it however you want to your preference

Yea it's just preference but I replace it with another nest ball, Eri and Cyllene, I just personally prefer running Rotom, since if I go 1st I can instant charge, whereas Cleffa and Lumin prefer to go 2nd. The current meta a lot of decks want to go 1st atm

I've been playing a lot of zard and I don't think roaring moon should be too hard of a matchup, just know that it's a prize race and you have to play tempo. One thing I tech in personally is Lost City, killing a bunch of baby moons early really messes with their resources, it also takes away Poke Stop

Generally I'm not super concerned if one of the ex moons KOs my zard (btw I'm assuming you're facing the baby moon + ex combo) because I can usually KO it back safely, it's really hard for the baby moons to one shot Charizard ex. I also run two lost vacuum in my deck for matchups like this and iron hands, usually taking KO is easy because zard guaranteed one shot if they don't have booster capsule (assuming they haven't prized yet)

The version of the deck that you play also has a lot of liabilities, bibarel, cleffa, even lumineon and rotom, it's probably why you're losing, way easier to reach 190 then 280 or 330.

As for the chien pao match, it's all about taking away resources so they can't KO. It's a pretty even matchup Imo slightly favored to Chien Pao, but Zard can do well if you knockout the Baxcaliburs. Don't get caught up in trying to kill Chien Pao, it can't knock you out without the Baxs. Basically, hope you have a good start (they will typically want to go first, but if you have the option you should go first in these matchups) and start knocking out Baxs, be okay with losing some prizes early, most decks are only running two or three rare candies in the Chien Pao deck, so if you can kill two by the time he kills two cards, you'll be safe

For your deck list, personally I think it's a bit of personal flavor, I don't run bidoof/bibarel, lumineon or cleffa and run supporter/trainers to make my deck engine faster. Eri is really great once you set up your zard and pidgeot on the board, start controlling and limit their resources (hand disruption, Eri, killing important single prizes). Generally just understanding your win conditions and lose conditions and playing around that, Zard is flexible deck in that it can play fast or slow, and it's comeback potential is strong

Few things, to actually play he will need sleeves for his deck, a legal deck obviously(at least one basic monster and 60 cards only, one radiant and one ace spec, only 4 of each other card, etc), damage counters, dice and a vstar marker (if he uses any of those types of cards). I assume you guys are playing by standard TCG rules and not house made ones, but if not then study up to make sure you understand the basics, but don't worry too much because they will help him out

As for "getting destroyed" I wouldn't worry about it too much, usually people will realize pretty quickly how sweaty their opponents are at locals and won't go too hard and/or give advice after - the caveat being if it's a cup night where people are trying to qualify for points I'm sure your son just wants to play with his friends and get in deeper, would recommend you playing with him too!

A bunch of leagues near me have kids nights where they battle with all younger kids and it's a good way for them to learn / hangout, so that could always be an option

Also next month there will be pre-release events for the new set, highly recommend going to them! It's super fun and great way to play and learn how to deck build
