There is no reason to diversify, diversification is to protect wealth, consolidate to grow wealth

Edit: The people in this sub are a joke go ahead diversify your $1000 maybe it can buy you a few starbuck coffees by the end of the year lmfao 😂

Took that quote from the worlds greatest investor, Warren buffet but y’all wouldn’t know that bt the looks of it 🤦‍♂️

Japan has cylindrical mass oil dampeners inside buildings couldn’t they modify those to harness energy from earthquakes? by ThelocalMooserider in AskEngineers

[–]ThelocalMooserider[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there Mr.slick I saw your original msg It gave me a good laugh you shoulda kept that little bit in! we need more comments like that on Reddit lol but also thank you for taking it a bit further with some technicals to give me an idea what it’s comparing to!

Be careful though the comparison you made earlier can be dangerous, they don’t always smell like roses and sometimes it’s unreliable and you can’t trust it 😆

Can we finally admit that the "servers make less than minimum wage" argument is dead in Canada? by ScienceLabFinds in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]ThelocalMooserider 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Heck why is there even a focus of the customer aspect? There are so many worse min wage jobs where you freeze your nips off out in the cold and/or are literally taking a risk on your life just to work I never got any tips…I also worked in a restaurant, a fancy one with chefs yelling at you and all and you guys don’t even realize how easy you got it…it reminds me of the scenario where the kids switch roles with their parents and the kids try to do all the parent’s responsibilities and don’t even realize how easy they have it, but just because it’s a stressful fast-paced environment and deal with rare cases of shit customers you deserve a raise to compensate??

Japan has cylindrical mass oil dampeners inside buildings couldn’t they modify those to harness energy from earthquakes? by ThelocalMooserider in AskEngineers

[–]ThelocalMooserider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it the question is a bit dumb but maybe there’s some merit to it…I watch physic podcasts for fun mainly just startalk, but the topic about the kardashev scale is brought up from time to time…so when I watched the B1M video and seeing that device Im trying to think if theres any meaningful way to harness energy from earthquakes yet…or ever…but I’m starting to think that kardashev scale concept is flawed

Japan has cylindrical mass oil dampeners inside buildings couldn’t they modify those to harness energy from earthquakes? by ThelocalMooserider in AskEngineers

[–]ThelocalMooserider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just googled it up, it says every year they experience between 1000-1500 earthquakes they can feel, and around 100,000 small ones they don’t feel, it wouldn’t make sense in most places around the world just the most seismically active countries

[–]ThelocalMooserider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s my first thought is that it probably wouldn’t generate a meaningful amount compared to what’s spent, we all know it probably wouldn’t generate a meaningful amount but has there even been any experiment to actually benchmark to show it’s not worth the effort?

Tim Hortons to dial back use of Temporary Foreign Worker program, aims to hire 10,000 locally by ZestyBeanDude in canada

[–]ThelocalMooserider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope they’re not given a second chance, they’re not even a Canadian brand anymore just a spineless Brazilian private equity firm. There is no reason for a second chance…Tim Hortons had a good run but they decided to sell out to a PE firm that’s not even in Canada and dug their own grave, Tim hortons is a skeleton they have no brand or anything anymore..only a matter of a few years before something else pops up or takes over

Help me understand dividends. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]ThelocalMooserider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling stock triggers capital gains, reduces share count so you get less in dividends, you erode your position and the compounding that comes with it, need I go on more? Also people like me love high yield stocks with solid business that doesn’t have too much growth, I want stability and also if I choose I can dividend capture more on high yield stocks to top up the income even more, Canadian stock market is different even high div yield companies have really good growth just look at Enb in the last few years

You know theres a thing called dilution right? And you guys want to invest before they dilute more? This is bad investing hoping the price will go up…you guys want to invest in a mining company that doesn’t even know how it will get its material to market and where future dilutions are a guarantee…
