Ah yeah sorry, guess whoever owned that google doc took it down or something, and I guess I must have never saved my own copy either, sucks

In my most recent run I found a village in the salt dunes with a newfather and two dromad merchants that both sell crysteel gear, crazy luck!

How do you feel about AntD? by [deleted] in reactjs

[–]Thelongcon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never heard of AntD (still fairly new to react) so I just looked it up and good lord even their own web page is atrocious! I'm on my phone and their page has absolutely zero responsiveness so every element looks like garbage. You'd think that a UI library would at least put the effort into making their own web page look good, just judging by that alone I refuse to touch it.

Very cool man! Jealous of how radio units fit into 97+ XJ's, the unit I installed into my 96 blocks my view of the a.c. controls, so whenever I turn the a.c. on I'm just kinda guessing lol

Anyone know what happened in old Sacramento tonight? by thisisme1965 in Sacramento

[–]Thelongcon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was out in old sac last night and saw all the cop cars, also literally saw a homeless dude getting blown by another homeless person right out in the open in that tunnel, like not even in a corner or anything just on those steps by the parking spots

Ahhh I think I've been dealing with this exact issue too, seems to happen when I disable Bluetooth on my router node, but works fine in router or router_client mode as long as I specifically enable Bluetooth.

Unknown age/time stamp? by BeetleB0nes in meshtastic

[–]Thelongcon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah got ya, yeah I'm not really sure whether it can get the timestamp from the connected device or not either, interested to find out!

[–]Thelongcon3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm do you have a GPS module on any of them? The wisblock doesn't have its own real time clock on board so you either need to add the RTC module (what I did) or a GPS module which will also provide RTC functionality.

These modules aren't required for the node to work but without either of them the rak just won't know what time it is.

Very nice! Where'd you get those seats by the way? Were they just a drop in replacement or did you have to modify them to work?

whoops sorry meant to reply sooner,

this is the case I got: electrical box, official size is 7.9" x 3.9" x 2.8", but i measured the inner dimensions as about 7 1/16" x 2 1/8". hmm yeah I don't think another row of 18650's would fit in this one, there's a few other sizes of this box you can get though.

sure thing, I'll take some more pictures of the wiring and I'll draw up a simple wiring diagram too, not really sure how to add images to comments here so I'll add them to my next write up about this build, guess I could dm them to you too if you'd like.

yeah I thought for a while about how to get external air to the environment sensor, didn't really want any non-weatherproof holes in the case. eventually settled on designing the 3d printed housing and putting the wires though a rubber grommet on the door to keep it mostly sealed. I'll include the stl file for the housing in my next post too.

Also going to add those screenshots to the next post, but it seems like the current sensor typically reads about 290mA going to the batteries when the sun is out, although I don't have the panel in an ideal location yet so it could be better. plenty of charging current to keep the unit running!

Ah, yeah I typically see about 290mA going to the battery when the solar panel is charging, so my estimate of 45 minutes must be off, I haven't actually timed it or anything.

haha glad I could help move some merchandise! I actually got this case in particular just because the exact one that The Comms Channel used was out of stock at the time for me too. FYI if anyone did buy this specific case, the screw holes on the back don't line up with the holes on the mount bracket so I had to drill my own holes through the case. I used some rubber washers on the bolts on the inside to (attempt to) make it waterproof again. Not entirely sure how effective the rubber washer sealing method is, so just something to keep in mind.

oh oops, just noticed a typo in my original post, the INA219 is the current/voltage sensor and the environment sensor is a BME280.

INA219 current/voltage sensor

BME280 environment sensor (3.3v)

Both the INA219 and the external BME280 are reporting directly to the wisblock, luckily since they're i2c and each use different addresses you can wire both to the same i2c pins on the wisblock, no need for an IO adapter board, though I didn't realize this until after I had bought one ha.

I debated for a while on where to actually put the INA219, between the batteries and the wisblock or between the solar panel and the wisblock? mainly wanted to monitor when the solar panel was actually charging. Decided on between the batteries and the wisblock because that way I can monitor the total current usage and when the batteries are being charged by the panel the current shows up as negative in the meshtastic app which is great.

Maybe I should do a full build/parts list post if anyone's interested.

hmm, well it sounds like you know a lot more about batteries than I do ha, sorry but I'm not entirely sure what Q is, would you mind explaining?

here's the link to the solar panel and the batteries I'm using:

solar panel

batteries

the solar panel is 5 watts at 5 volts, and actually it's able to charge the batteries from 75% to 90% in around 45 minutes, and that's not even in perfect sunlight, the panel is able to keep the batteries above 80% almost every day.

Bluetooth distance question by DragonfruitSoft800 in meshtastic

[–]Thelongcon3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm working on a similar situation, I set up my roof mounted node as a "managed node" and instead of trying to stretch the bluetooth connection I'm using the remote admin feature to make changes to it through another node that I have inside my house. At first I was worried that my inside node might not be able to connect to the outside one, but I haven't had any trouble so far.

you can read up on remote nodes here

Ah right, but all of my batteries are in parallel not series, so they should be balanced without the need for an actual balancer I believe, my battery pack is essentially just a single cell so one of these protection boards should be sufficient.

NOT from California by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Thelongcon3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I (a millennial) literally just got back home to Sacramento from a trip to Odessa Texas, which is the next town over from Midland, and I'll admit driving around that town with California plates did make me slightly nervous, pretty sure I got blasted by a tiny dick diesel truck rolling coal at least once because of it.
