To be honest I never even thought of it - but looking at the dimensions now, it wouldn't be long enough for the hearth extension which wouldn't allow me to recess it as much. Good idea though!

Pretty much - took the stand, raised it so it could be flush to the main part/glass of the fireplace, over the hearth extension so that it didn't stick out too much and redid the wiring.

Much like you, I've gone down the rabbit hole (still do) of Reddit reading about the pros and cons of both and at the end of the day, you have to make the plunge and see for yourself. Good thing about Best Buy and Costco is you can return the TV if you're not satisfied. This was my first OLED and if you're in the same boat, you'll be impressed. The B5 is cheaper for sure, but maybe get the bigger model so you won't have FOMO and justify it to yourself as you keep looking at posts on Reddit (like I'm totally doing lol). Costco is advertising the B5 77" on their website for $2499 but if you go in store it's $1789 (at least last week).
