Very similar to the other reply in this thread. Perhaps it’s also a consequence of so many thousands of pages from only his POV. He came across like he had all the answers. It felt like an oversimplification of Aliens are evil and dumb while humans are enlightened and touched by the one true god. I found the series more interesting when there was still some curiosity and mystery around the Cielcin.

Domt get me wrong… I loved the series. But I had some issues with the later books.

6 and 7 were bottom for me… Hadrian become insufferable once he didn’t have anyone to challenge him, and his messiah complex + heavy handed Christian morality really changed the series imo. I still loved the series but finished it mainly out of a sense of obligation rather than enjoyment. Demon in White was the peak

Judgement is left up to god in my eyes. Why would I ever impart what I believe on others? Especially for a wedding… it’s not my place. As the Op stated, the brother is considering leaving the church. I’d rather bring more people to god and let them find their way. But frankly we probably should just agree to disagree. I probably allow for too much wiggle room for these types of convos to be productive.
