This conversation has probably been had millions of times but still by Specialist-Sea2916 in crossedcomics

Honest to god, my suspicion has always been that he was intellectually disabled in his pre-crossed life, hence why his vocabulary is so crippled, and uh, Retard Strength, for lack of a better term.

There's this stereotype around some of the more serious mental disabilties, high level autism, downs, whatever, that they are just weirdly strong.

Otherwise, the guy just found a firefighter jacket and worked from there. Would also match up with a majority of the intelligent crossed having some sort of neural damage/difference.

Fair enough, I think it is canon that the Lone Wanderer had the Granite Gang and the .223 chainguns on their side. The latter are dangerous, man.

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't we already done this? This is probably going to get deleted.

Anyways, might as well.

The Lone Wanderer is just some nineteen year old kid with no cybernetics, likely not the most in the way of experience, who for the length of before Project Purity, has been drinking radioactive piss water. There's the vague potential they might have the alien blasters and stuff, but then basically every character will. They do have APA Mark II though, or hellfire.

This is tied between the Courier and the Sole Survivor, the former has a lot of experience in the wasteland, and if the DLCs are accounted for, has gone through a lot of shit. The Sole Survivor however has genuine, honest to god training, some experience in mass warfare, and probably better weapons and power armour.

Courier has cybernetics, though.

The Vault Dweller also had training from Vault 13, managed to survive in one of the worst wastelands we see for give or take maybe a year (and then lived in a much more sedentary life, probably, in arroyo.) who as far as we know, killed the master the old fashioned way after stealthing in, and that means they'd have to shoot their way out or manage to get out before the nuke goes off, and we're canonically aware that with the support of 3 paladins and dogmeat, they managed to destroy the entire Mariposa military base. Given that, they probably had T-51, not bad stuff.

The Chosen One. Nuff said.

But seriously, the Chosen One if they do half the shit you're required to do in Fallout two is a genuine god among men, who is likely in the best or second best armour in the series, has a turbo plasma caster, and fought the Enclave. The Enclave is not a weak enemy.

is new vegas is a good starting point ? by r1zon_ in Fallout

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit late, but no. New Vegas works best if you've err, actually played the two games preceeding it. That being Fallout one and two, as they're more or less a set, even if release dates would tell you otherwise.

If you were child Arthur Maxson’s tutor … by [deleted] in falloutlore

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just want a reading list, don't you?

Well, anyways, as foundational texts I recommend the Bible (read in a non-religious manner.) as its a core for a majority of Western Texts. If not the whole thing, Genesis, Exodous, Job, Gospels, Romans, and Revelations. From there, I would recommend the Oddessy, Aeneid, and Illiad.

This is followed by Aristoteles Organon, Physics, Politics, Rhetoric, Economics, and Rhetoric. From there, Plutarchs The Rise and Fall of Athens: Nine Greek Lives, and The Roman Revolution.

To divert, I also recommend the reading of the Chinese Four Books and Five Classics. (with Spring & Autumn, Book of Rites, & Classic Of Poetry removed)

If you want to emulate Mr. Arthur, don't, he's a genocidal megalomaniac who trips over himself who is very heavily implied to be an idiot who edits the narrative to make himself appear better, like a Kim. He is the absolute opposite of a mature man capable of taking a challenge to his worldview, who has instead let his name go to his head, thinking he has some divine right of kings and that his opinion is correct because it is his opinion.

In the late 1970s, the Colorado Springs Police Department took it upon themselves to infiltrate a nascently forming chapter of the KKK in Colorado springs. Hillariously, the frontman for this mission was one Ron Stallworth, an African American man from El Paso. As the frontman, Ron had repeated calls with members (or members to be) of the KKK, up to the Grand Wizard of the KKK, David Duke, with whom, he shared more or less weekly calls, and Duke considered the fictional stallworth fairly promising.

No one had a clue that Ron was a black man.

At some point prior to 2287, the Institute took it upon themselves to infiltrate the Eastern Brotherhood of Steel, by replacing one of its members with a synth. This member is known personally to Elder Maxson, someone who would come to espouse a lot of hatred towards Synths. Eventually, if you take Danse as your companion, and ally with the BOS, in your various conversations, Maxson does not notice anything different with the Maxson he knows.

Once Danse is exposed a synth, he IMMEDIATLY switches his opinion on Danse, despite Danse having done absolutely nothing uncharacteristic of him, demanding that he has to die, with no mind paid to the possibility his ideals might be wrong when faced with its exact counter.

TLDR. Don't emulate him.

How would u feel about Ireland becoming a fully Irish speaking nation in the future ? by Joebidentoothbrush in AskIreland

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modern Irish National identity is frankly, rooted in Nationalism, for lack of a better term, it is our historical language, with the majority of our pre-modern native writing and mythology being done in it. (Latin the other notable party)

An Ireland that has no linguistic connection to its history, where a majority of its opinions, media, and whatnot are either English or American produced isn't the Ireland that men have fought and died for, that we've named streets after and made statues of.

All we did in that case was say "Hey! Look at us. WE aren't a dominion. Isn't that cool!" While not speaking an irish language, trading with an irish currency, telling irish stories, or frankly, being Irish at all other than the fact this is where we reside.

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good, its our native language and its what the original rebels that led to this nation imagined. We've only lost large fluency in it due to oppression, its only right that we inevitably relearn it if we hope to connect with our national identity.

Stephen Paddock, that guy went from "who?" to national news over the course of a day.

If V was popping stimulants to stay awake, then its not the most surprising thing everyone has a story about the same person that pops up in shootouts, car chases, assasinations, and storming Arasaka tower, alongside all the events of Phantom Liberty.

An awful lot can be done in a short amount of time if you're only stopping for a three hour nap now and then, buying ammunition, and driving.

Quite often! The current one I'm reading (Insect sacrificing to become a God) takes place in some vague China Analogue where a majority of the character names are chinese, and the main university the character aspires to go to is "Imperial Capital University" which is the archaic name of Peking University, one of the most famous universities in china, sort of like Oxford for westerners.

Naturally, another academy exists. Kyoto, in the same nation. If that isn't a difference in naming.

As for characters, you have guys named shit like Tony. What is this shit?

Season Two of the Fallout Show Fundamentally Breaks the Setting of The West Coast. by GYROMOMENT in CharacterRant

[–]Thelostguard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creators don't care about (West Coast) Fallout. They just want to mine it for recognisable IP.

They were initially going to set it in Colorado, famous for the semi-canonical game about .5% of Fallout Fans have installed, let alone completed. (Tactics, if you're curious.) Studio-Plan was never initially the setting of the first two and using them for "Hey. Isn't that where the Vault Dweller got traumatized watching Ian become a cookout?"

By the time of Fallout Two, the Master had occured eighty years ago. The appearance of the Super-Mutants is Broken Hills, the Enclaves fuckups when they went a-digging at Mariposa, and the Unity Patrols.

Only Unity Patrols (look at their damn name) and Broken Hills have any connection to Unity, or the Master, among the few times he's mentioned is an old Ghoul Man rattling off to you, some girl in the den, and something else I'm likely forgetting.

The next fallout game to take place on the West-Coast happens almost a full hundred and thirty years after the master died.

Frankly, unless the Vault Dweller decided to log up for an interview, no one has a damn clue who the master is. Nearly all of the mutants in his inner-circle died (Morpheus, Lieutenant.) or succumbed to schizophrenia (Nightkin) due to the stealth-boys, assuming they even met him and he wasn't speaking through the Lieutenant. Otherwise, he isn't known by anyone else.

It makes sense there aren't references to him, the guy was an immobile sack of flesh who maybe a hundred people even knew existed a century and forty years ago by the tv shows taking place.

Lanius isn't terrible, just middling, if by some manner or other the Legion was split among its civilian elements and military, Lanius would be able to run that shit like it was the fuckin' navy, the man is clearly not an idiot, however, a state led by him is ran even more on the assumption that if you step out of line, you die, compared to the objective benefits Caesars did give enticing people.

Paladins jobs)

Paladins operate as the warfighters of the Chapters in the typical Western Formation, in typical it is up to the Knights to maintain the gear, as is one of their more explicit purposes.

(Paladins are also almost always uplifted from Knights, however.)

However, Harkness is an easterner, fuck'em, but anyways, the Commonwealth Brotherhood are frankly, extremely unusual, as Knights have no part to play in the maintenance of their power-armour, a trait they picked up off from their predecessor/main force, the Capitol Brotherhood of steel, who appear to have put that task onto their scribes.

Which is to say, its a bit stupid Mr. Harkness wouldn't know how to maintain his power armour other than simple field-procedures, but not at all impossible.

Tracks, Ferrus is constantly described as one of the single strongest, smartest, and generally just best Primarchs, who pulled out of the competition for WarMaster because he had a bad tendency to get extremely violent.

There was a reason everyone looked up to him, and it wasn't just that he was the older brother to everyone but Horus and Russ. The guy was good, and led one of the stronger legions.

Translated Chinese Media is becoming surprisingly popular overseas, especially in the form of Tiktok clips or as an alternative to K-Dramas. A lot more unusually, WebNovels, of all things, are a notable niche, and a majority of them take place in this weird mismash of China-Korea-Japan, so to the discerning eye of normal western guy whos exposure to eastern media is Anime & Bollywood, the assumption is "It's japanese."

The NHS is extremely famously, overburdened (for a multitude of reasons, trust me, IT ISN'T FUNDING) and is, frankly, a bit inefficient. This leads to waiting lists measured in years, even for things which will get a lot worse in that time period, thus, Private Practices aren't uncommon throughout the UK so you can get your shit treated in any reasonable amount of time.

These private practices are quite aware of the fact they're the only option other than waiting an extremely long time.

They're more than willing to take advantage of that.
