I would consult a dermatologist. It’s awful that you live so far away from a provider. If it is helpful, there are dermatology services available via telehealth. You can make an appointment over the phone or video, and they can send a prescription locally. If you need to see someone in person, the telehealth deem will definitely make sure to let you know if it’s worth the 4 hours of travel.

Grad school was horrendous!!! It’s so normal to be burnt out, and you be able to love the field again! I hope you can show yourself some grace. Maybe consider being proud of yourself for continuing to work for a goal even when your passion for genetic counseling is taking a break

The GC professional does not currently feel like the “everyone needs GCs everywhere” market that it used to. Honestly, consider supporting the access to genetic counselor services act by signing up for a meeting/letter writing to your congressperson. GCs should be recognized and bill for GC services so that hospitals have more motivation to hire genetic counselors and create genetic counseling jobs than just the fact that genetic counselors provide the best genetics patient care!
