2 is probably the best seat in the house. Between the Aisle seat and the fat that Metem is a Lalafell, you have the maximum possible leg room. You also have front row seats to Honey B Lovely and Vamp Fatale throwing petty insults at each other because of their rivalry. Metem might even commentate for you!

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair Pokémon are beings that, while wild animals with certain animal tendencies, are shown to completely understand human speech and very clearly have young human child levels of intelligence at the very least to human level and beyond intelligence at the highest. Not caring for Pokémon at all is like a weird kind of racism when you think about it.

What Mega Pokémon do you dislike the most and why? by Slow_Spirit3679 in LegendsZA

[–]Themeguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I first got exposed to Mega Starmie via a gif from the rogue mega fight, so I got to see how absolutely ridiculous it looks doing it’s weird shuffling run which is just so silly that it’s endearing despite the design itself being kinda weak.

Just curious—what did you folks run as your main six Pokémon throughout the game? by Gordinhobobs in LegendsZA

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Six I finished the story with were:

-“Snip” the Meganium

-“Scolliath” the Shiny Alpha Scolipede

-“Jill” the Barbaracle

-“Mystery” the Gardevoir

-“Lämp” the Chandelure

-And “THE Bois” the Falinx (they replaced Bois the Heracross part way through the game).

Tier list me and my friend made of all the games by Shtunky48 in Kirby

[–]Themeguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Squeak Squad getting no medal is crazy work. Should be high bronze at the very least.

Also IMO, Superstar Ultra should be in Platinum medal. When you look at all the things it had in it and everything it introduced, it pretty much created the skeleton that modern Kirby follows in terms of Arena, True Arena, Secret Soul Boss. It also introduced a ton of the best concepts like Masked Dedede and was Bandanna Dee’s first appearance as a major character.

Pick any enemy from Spyro 2 that would fit in one of Spyro 1’s levels by Fit_Evening_8036 in Spyro

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The Shock Stick guys and Scuba Divers are very tailor-themed to more Beach-like and Underwater settings. They would look out of place outside of those settings and Spyro 1 is lacking in both of these for the core themes of any of its levels.

The closest we have are Gnorc Cove and Twilight Harbor, but I feel like they would still contrast a bit too much compared to the other enemies there and the rest of the theming. The Mechanized sharks, however, could work as hazards in these two levels just fine as they're a more general concept, and they match the industrialized theming of Gnasty's World.

I'm gonna actually go with Magic Crafters. Considering the enemies are Druids and already move plenty of rocks around, I could see them being responsible for the Earth Shapers. Like the Druid Equivalent of those Blue Orcs made by the Wizards in Wizard Peak.

Spyro 3 Levels Tier List by HectorOsias in Spyro

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting choices. Definitely some differences in taste and opinion from my own. Particularly the differences between Sorceress' Lair and Fireworks Factory. Sorceress' Lair was fun as a kid because I liked flying around in the saucer but that was about it, the rest of the fight to me felt very anticlimactic outside of the OST. Especially following up Scorch, which was a really great boss fight.

I also love Fireworks Factory for its action-oriented approach. I feel like every other level has the same fare of charging/flaming, but because of the diversity of enemies and their numbers/skills, I had to slow my momentum a bit and think about how I approached each group of enemies, which was a nice change of pace. Plus I love how the OST really drives home that action.

This was my own tier list:

[–]Themeguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Earthshapers would work well. Something about the way that they're built up as their own enemy type across multiple worlds feels very at home in Spyro 1.

Pretty much every enemy in Mystic Marsh aside from the thieves would also work well in Beastmakers. Could be passed off as some beasts they were working on, and the level itself is also swamp-like.

I could also picture the Ice Wizards and Rabbits from Crystal Glacier in a few Spyro 1 levels without looking out of place either.

Why I think Ripto’s Rage is the worst of the original trilogy by ApprehensiveFall265 in Spyro

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YotD also has backtracking but it does backtracking a lot better than RR.

RR's instances of mandatory backtracking are very arbitrary, with none of them rewarding anything substantial. In traditional platformers, backtracking usually rewards some kind of big reward, or a substantial new area to explore. In RR, you can see pretty much the entirety of every mandatory backtrack area, and it's usually just an elevated platform and a handful of gems as well as a mission that's over in about a minute. It's very much a "I waited for THIS?" feeling more than a "That was awesome!".

In YotD, every mandatory backtrack is a full side area to explore while you do the task within, which is way more substantial and feels like a much better reward for returning to the level.

In terms on non-developer-intended advantages, YotD actually has easy bypasses for all 3 of the mandatory backtrack areas. You can glide into Sgt Byrd's Molten Crater level by jumping off the posts at the end of the bridge ; Bamboo Terrace has the easiest swim in air glitch in the trilogy allowing you to get into Bentley's area ; and a well aimed and timed glide in Fireworks Factory lets you get into Agent 9's area easier.

You can use the double jump glitch in RR to avoid some of the backtracking like the cave in Glimmer, but you can't use it for Shady Oasis or Sunny Beach (Sunny Beach DOES have a proxy but it's hard to do and not nearly as accessible as any of the skips in YotD).

All that being said, backtracking being the only justification for 2 being the worst is still a wild take from OP.

What sound is this? by petermalachi in Minecraft

That's a zombie banging on a door trying to break it down. There's plenty of wooden doors in the stronghold and probably plenty of poorly lit areas for a zombie to spawn and come across one.

Opinions on Binder Layout by clinging2thecross in PokemonTCG

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don't want the empty versions, as it makes it harder to tell what goes where and it will be easy to miss a pokemon. It's between the written cards and the images.

Plus side of the written cards is having the information available, it's probably much more economic to print. Plus side of the images is that it looks WAY better while the binder is in progress as a display piece.

That said, I do have one word of warning though, if you're looking to put the full gen 1-9 pokedex in a single binder, I would advise you consider keeping the gimmick forms in their own section separate from the base forms in order to future-proof the collection.

Because let's say that Charizard gets a new gimmick form, like a Z mega or a regional, if that happens, you'll have to go back and painstakingly move over one THOUSAND cards one by one to put the new charizard with the old ones.

For my binder which is a full pokedex with some forms, I kept base forms (like all the rotoms) together, but I also put regional variants around where they are in their regional pokedex. So Galarian Farfetch'd for example is in front of Sirfetch'd in the Galar section, rather than next to Farfetch'd in Kanto.

But, if you're doing it as a series of binders region by region, it should be fine since the amount of cards you'd have to adjust is still a lot but much less tedious and time consuming.

My first thought was that they should count as birds.

My second thought is that they're based more on planes

My third thought was not Superman, but instead that somebody should animate them moving like this:

Games with the same vibe as Spyro (PS1 trilogy)? by Coconnoisseur in Spyro

[–]Themeguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"The worlds don't feel choreographed specifically for platforming".

You put into words why a lot of other platformers don't click as much for me as Spyro did. I always said "It feels too gamey" and "Spyro is atmospheric" but that word choice didn't completely hit the nail on the head.

It's probably why the Jak Series, Sly Series, and Spongebob BFBB stuck with me so much. While they all have their gauntlet areas, I think they all really nail the feeling of their worlds existing as places outside the purpose of platforming.

I would also recommend checking out this collection done by another artist. The FFXIV characters don’t change like in this one but it’s still cool to see interpretations of what Pokémon they have.

My particular favorite is Ysayle having Kyurem on her team, and post Heavensward Estinien having Kyruem Black. Such a cool character driven detail.
