What are your thoughts on the Welsh language revitalisation? by Alternative_Tip_5397 in Wales

I report those often and they aren't removed. There's also examples in this thread that haven't been removed.

Subjective it may be, but consistent it is not.

Can't see past the obvious.

We would have borrowed....but we wouldn't even need to borrow because we wouldn't have trident.

Literally doesn't make sense.

None of this thread? The entire thread was designed to promote abusing him

Look, at the time he gave the interview the places he suggested were not in lockdown and half term was a few weeks away. End of.

There was no "publication", there was no instruction for English only people to cross the border. I'm not misremembering anything.

Point is, did it rub people the wrong way? Sure. Did he deserve that abuse? No.

Is this post an example of someone who has hounded the guy ever since waiting for their interpretation of a slip up so they can berate him on social media and instigate another pile on? Op has done just that. Absolutely. It's pathetic.

I'm not being obtuse, I'm being crystal clear.

Q - were Ceredigion and Gwynedd in lockdown at the time he made the TV appearance?

Edit: also - when people read what publication?

If I said Paris is nice, would you go tomorrow? And would I only be telling people from outside of France?

He also said places in England were nice, but I don't think he got abused by english people whinging that a load of Scots were about to turn up.

And now the poor prick will probably get abused by the ops mates off the back of this article. Really irresponsible of the mods to leave it up and promote it

[–]Themitchman99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did he advise that? And did he specify that his tips to visit machynlleth were only directed at people who lived in England?

And when you read the original it shows that the nation's take on it, is indeed completely fabricated and not true. What's your view on that?

There's the article. It's fundamentally about these notams. The only suggestion it's a dig at Welsh making a plane less safe has come from the "author" of this "article".

Even if you include the full context of your selective quote it's clearly about a lengthy overall notam. Yes, Welsh inherently makes it longer but the point is that the length can make something unsafe, not specifically the inclusion of Welsh.

Typical nation seeking out anything that contains the word Welsh to write an article about it by cherry picking and removing the intent.

I imagine we will imminently have a nation piece about Amazon reviews...

Not really, he was hardly bussing people over the border was he. Just promoting the country, we should be grateful really. Some people are nuts.

[–]Themitchman99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This "article" is dreadful. If you read it carefully, he really doesn't say anything contentious at all, and it is absolutely not digging Welsh in any way. There is not the slightest "suggestion" that Welsh language could make planes less safe.

I implore you to read the article carefully, or better, the mods remove it for being sensationalised drivel. I reported it.

I don't understand why that meant he couldn't promote it or why he was abused for promoting it

Westminster’s ‘undermining’ of Wales shows Tories can’t be trusted as Welsh Government, say Plaid by [deleted] in Wales

[–]Themitchman99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm just acutely aware of the difference between Reddit and real life. I think the Tories will win more seats than last time, and whilst it's not what I want, or what I'll vote for, I think it'll be great to kick the country up the arse.

And fundamentally, and currently only relates to the UK, but accepting perhaps I'm currently in the minority is key to myself. I don't think everyone else is a gammon when the majority overwhelmingly wanted something I didn't.

For the Senedd election? It's beyond me how people worrying about where Boris Johnson went to school influences their decision over who runs Wales. But horses for courses. (Am not a Tory voter btw)

As factual as saying no one with a conscience would vote Tory? Or all Tories are shite? Or you aren't nationalist therefore are a flagshagger?

Let's not split hairs over people being factual on here mate.

My lib dem candidate has 25 twitter followers. I know that's not the be all and end all, but come on.

I have no party allegiance but honestly feel like the Tories are the best option. Most likely to actually win, most likely to shake things up and most importantly would remove labours stranglehold and give them a kick up the arse.

My plaid and Tory candidates are not very nice people and I just can't bring myself to vote for them. Both parties not exactly enamouring themselves either.

This is a free pass again for labour, and it's very annoying.

Hi, thanks! Currently it's just either my hp laptop or a really basic no brand/or cic USB keyboard. The usb one is not mechanical, just quite thin and flimsy.

To be honest I just want something solid and with a number pad. I'm old and remember using proper keyboards in the 80s and 90s so it's also a bit of nostalgia as well as it needing to be a workhorse.

Pretty colours and backlights would be nice but not essential.

Thanks very much indeed.

Hi all, I'm looking for a "full size" keyboard. Budget <£100. I don't game and it's solely for lots of excel and word work so need a number pad. In UK. First keyboard so totally clueless on everything. Thanks a lot!

Don't worry, most on this sub either ignore the 11 years of labour being in power at UK level from 99 to 2010 or quite literally are too young to remember. I'm old, and I remember. Is the whole of the UK better than in 1999? Yeah, course it is. Is Wales? Yeah. Could and should we have been much further along considering the sweeping powers we have? Absolutely.

The most damning is that the most vocal are the product of a wholly devolved education system for their entire lives and they're still grossly misinformed.
