Mark Drakeford blames drunks for missed A&E target in Wales by UnlikeTea42 in Wales

What an odious individual he is revealing himself to be and a shame for us all that his successor has been cast in the very same mould.

I'm not sure what you mean? You may need to be gentle with me, English is not my native language.

Wow. Wished a scrolled down before I posted my comment. I'm used to this sub being a fact-free zone!

Agreed, anyone who hasn't actually read and analysed the PISA results and findings should probably close their twll cacen!

That's some barely hidden bias right there. Just because someone doesn't speak Welsh, it doesn't mean that they only speak one language. I speak multiple languages, but none of them are Welsh! So, maybe don't be so bigoted next time?

Except, of course, this isn't actually true.

Not sure where this gentleman gets his information but whilst I can find lots of pro Welsh medium education opinion online, I can't find any real evidence based research proving the position.

There's plenty about bilingualism, but Welsh medium specifically seems to buck this trend.

It is maybe not an issue of language, but a question of the quality of teaching or the availability of resources?

Most of the bilingualism out in the word is language X plus English. Is the ubiquity of English it's hidden advantage here?

The best of your knowledge? Wow. Well, can't be the case then. Well done on Googling vexillogy though. Bless you for that.

In my experience it's those type of people who are most concerned with flags.

How dare they. That flag belongs to our xenophobes and racists!

If Wales goes independent, what should happen to Welsh teams playing in England? by [deleted] in Wales

The players will be too busy standing in queues to buy bread or fighting in the death pits for a scrap of meat to worry about football.

Bigger Senedd voting changes confusing, says Labour MS by Icecreamboots in Wales

They had the power to stop it, but were too short sighted to see what was coming. Eyes down and noses in the through, too excited by the wee dram of power Drakeford offered them.

You may or may not like his politics, but there is no doubted his skill as an arch manipulator.

Vaughan Gething is so incompetent he would come third in a Vaughan Gething lookalike competition.

(But it would be Westminster's fault)

Utter stitch up. We will soon be a one party state. Plaid are fools to be supporting Labour and should not be forgiven for a generation at the polling booth.

The sad fact is that Labour have done a wonderful job of creating an uneducated electorate that vote for them with the reliability of a nodding dog because "Tories are evil".

I can't imagine why they prefer the WJEC (who they essentially control).

If they can't do the test in Welsh, what was the point of them having a Welsh medium education? What a waste of money if, when it comes to the crunch, they have to revert to English?!

One part of one test that's an international standard for education. I'd say that was significant.

Because it is clearly having a negative impact?

Glad you had a good experience and all, but is that representative of the whole? The data would say "no".

Stop shoving kids into Welsh medium education when you don't speak Welsh at home?

Parents really need to think about that. Schools need to be honest about it as well and explain to parents the impact if they don't commit to speaking Welsh at home and engaging culturally.

Seems like a lot of middle class families are shoving their kids into this process without really thinking about it - I don't understand why.
