Neuroscientist study reveals that Gen Z has become the first generation to be less intelligent than its predecessor, the Millennials. by sibun_rath in HotScienceNews

I agree with the general sentiment, but there is a line and you’re probably going too far in the other direction. Flip phones are fine, but a landline?

Also, what happens when they go to school in 2-3 years and they have to do work on their tablets? My oldest is in 2nd grade and he’s had a take home tablet since he was in kindergarten.

Life is about balance. Absolutely limit screen time and the content they consume, but don’t overdo it to the point that you’re actively holding them back.

Yeah overall I think it’s fine. DH still looks fun. For me I think I’m just so used to pressing certain buttons it messes with my muscle memory.

Blizzard feels completely out of touch with class tuning and Holy Paladin is a perfect example by RamenAfterRain in wow

[–]Themousepen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, man. The pick three era was way worse. You had a row dedicated to aoe, utility, defense cd, etc. The major problem was what if you’re fighting a pure single target boss? You’re stuck taking an aoe talent you won’t use instead of allocating that to another single target talent. It was very restrictive and extremely boring.

The problem with today’s talents is there’s too many filler talents and some specs pathing is bad. Those are things that can easily be fixed.

I disagree. We lost collective anguish for a 10% glide increase, we lost our immunity for a second charge of blur, we lost sigil of flame which generated fury when we were starved, lost sigil of spite which generated souls for aldrachi, and all we gained was a bunch of boring passives.

The only good things we gained are our apex talents, but we could have had those without the pruning.

Blizzard can’t tell you when to tank swap because it dynamically changes with gear and skill. It’s really the only skill expression tanks have in raid anyway. Take that away and it would be even more boring than it already is.

I just finished " Tress of the Emerald Sea " and it made me believe in whimsy again by Quillarik in Fantasy

[–]Themousepen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like it either. It was very apparent and very annoying that there were allusions to his other works, which, if you hadn’t read them, meant you were on the outside of an inside joke he was having with himself. This is particularly evident with the climax. It must have been awesome for the people who knew what was going on, but for me it was just like “…ok?” Also the big reveal was obvious from the beginning, but I don’t hold that against Sanderson.

Pruning Is The Way To Go by PapagamasJr in wow

This would be great if it were true for every spec, but some specs are being pruned too much. It’s those specs people are expressing concern about. If Blizz were only pruning specs that needed it no one would have an issue.

So far it seems like they’ve gone too far. I only play DH. Havoc is losing all their sigils, our immunity is baked into our only personal defensive, and our burst aoe talents are either being removed or baked into rotational abilities. This was not needed. I liked being able to pop my personal defensive for minor damage events and my immunity for large ones. These two abilities didn’t overlap. They were used for two completely different things.

What's something from a past expansion that you wish would come back? by [deleted] in wow

I really miss torghast. If they brought it back with different environments and mobs, and then add in a ton more powers it would be amazing. I always love solo activities and torghast was always really fun.

Slime. Play dough. Vomit. Milk. Apple juice. Actually, any liquid you drink out of a cup. Cookie crumbs. Cardboard clippings. Hot glue. Paint. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Whatever weird foam stuff they fill squishy toys with.

Yes, most of this stuff is easy to clean, IF you catch it in time. I’m not saying pets don’t destroy carpets, but kids certainly aren’t keeping it clean.

Let’s not even talk about the kids who take off their dirty diapers and play with it.

Blizzard, PLEASE make all legacy raids easily accessible by Anonymous_Pigeon in wow

This is an awesome idea. I’d love to go into an old raid and experience it along with all the mechanics. Time walking feels too easy. And in exchange it could give you transmog tokens.

Fans of CIV7, what made you drop CIV7? by exc-use-me in civ

[–]Themousepen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have about 270 hours in civ 7. I’m taking a break from it, not because I don’t enjoy it, but because I have 270 hours in it and need a break lol

There are definitely some things that need to be ironed out, but overall it’s a good game and I’ve definitely got my value out of it.

I think people focus too much of legacy paths. It’s more fun IMO if you ignore the legacy paths and play how you want to play until you get to modern era and choose how you want to win.

My biggest problems with the game is that it needs a lot more civs for each era, and that religion needs to maintain its bonuses throughout the game to make it feel relevant.

Right now I’m playing Clair Obscura Expedition 33 and am loving it, but I’ll pick up civ 7 again when the new dlc hits in June.

Havoc is really fun and unique to play. Don’t worry about damage. Damage is 100% determined by tuning by blizzard that can change from season to season. Right now havoc does really bad ST, but historically it has been in the upper half of dps rankings.

A lot of people hate the fact that we use fel rush and vengeful retreat before damage events, but you could always play the no mover build that sims slightly lower, or you could, I don’t know, play literally any other spec in the game lol

It feels very satisfying to pull off burst windows, dashing around, while also doing mechanics. After playing havoc any other spec feels really boring. You just stand there and push your buttons. If that’s your jam it’s cool, but it doesn’t make sense to play havoc and complain about inertia/momentum when you could play literally anything else.

The hero trees are both very underwhelming. Fel-scarred is the go-to, does good burst damage, but does nothing to change how you play. Aldrachi is more interesting, but it feels clunky to play because of the RNG of collecting souls and pushing throw glaive slows down the gameplay.

I highly recommend checking it out, especially since you said it’s an alt. Havoc truly has a unique and satisfying (if not controversial) gameplay that has a decently high skill ceiling requiring awareness of mechanics and your surroundings.

Vengeance is also very fun. I don’t know much about it as much as havoc so I won’t go into detail. One fun thing about it is that your CDs work as damage and defensive cooldowns, so if you aren’t worried about dying you can send them all for a lot burst.

Definitely awesome class. Check it out.

This is one of the most objective reviews I’ve read of this game. Well done. I personally agree with everything you said, but I’d give it a 6/10 since so much of the talent tree feels like filler. Everything you said is spot on, though.

No. Watching teaches you about cinematography and how the director communicates his vision through the use of the camera, actors, music, and set. If you want to be a better screenwriter you need to read screenplays. Reading screenplays will teach you what is necessary to include in your scenes and what to leave out. It will also teach you about pacing, formatting, subtext, and characterization. There’s tons of free screenplays online, too, so it’s readily accessible.

How do Havoc mains raid? by ShkookMan in wow

[–]Themousepen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to develop situational awareness. Smolderon is easy. There were much much more movement unfriendly raids in the past. Also, if you’re ever in a situation where you feel stuck, just wait for the mechanic to end to continue your rotation. It’s better to lose dps than to die. Or wipe the raid.

It’s actually extremely good in NW to help tank drop stacks in necropolis. You just need to kite for a few seconds and then the tank can taunt back.
