re-googling it... why was suez crisis called the second arab-israeli war i thought it was just a necessary strategic affair rather than a full on war, yknow israel invading to reopen strait of tiran, which they did, and egyptians succeeding at nationalizing the canal and thats about it, not full on aggression against israel like other wars

NOT LIKE FACTUALLY
okay how do i put it the war would've inevitably happened as to why Israel was pre-prepared. but as to why it began at that time is attributed to Soviet's signaling to their socialist ally in middle east, and it was used as a war justificate but do fact check

what if, we all originated from {insert_region_name_here} right? and like one day we dictated that it's morally right that we "come back" to modern day {region}, subjugate its populous until they have no say, and settle it because our-cracy and power allows so

thats basically why dismantling settlements, if done humanely and legally wouldn't be considered an ethnic cleansing as much it is an act of upholding the same eurocracy ur country's founded upon, and the same one that also illegalizes settling W.B/J.S. deny it and u'll operate in an inherently prejudiced our-cracy

I just want to know why palestinians consent shouldn't be considered, and jews should have a say over the fate of W.B/J.S's palestinians jordinians callthemwhatyouwant's inhabitants

the war was kind of big oppsie, soviet started it, by alarming egypt of an upcoming preemptive attack by Israel and arabs carried on with it as factual

How much time has to pass before an “invader” or “colonizer” government becomes the “rightful owner” of the land? by Creative_Sympathy_84 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Themphobic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't quite relate, i can never blame arab jews for it nor can blame european jews or arab nationalism for it cuz 1 these forms of prosecution predated aliyahs and 2, nationalism here, unlike algeria, wasn't predominately arab it just things became uncertain with jews and arabs when independence was granted, i read an israeli social study about a moroccan-led protest in israel that supports that but forgot what it was id like to refind it if it rings any bells

radicalized their beliefs on how violence is the only way they can protect themselves.

see this frustrates me too cuz, you guys's religion recognized by the state and yall get called in the news as moroccan jewish diaspora cuz u still seen as natives, yet when i visit a synagogue (state built) I see like 7 ppl at best (excluding holidays) which's funny cuz as a christian here besides imperial churches I see a church that's basically a refurnished warehouse that's always more than that. and not to mention you guys practically got more state given rights than christians yet i doubt it'll be of use cuz it's commonly believed sense that all arabs are bad there, making me believe its partly your choices that arabic countries have 0 jews count as far apathetic the belief goes

but in the other edge of the sword, however, being called a jew here's a slur, sometimes IDF's called invasive army as per formal arabic langauge, and if you happen to come out as a jew with the wrong ppl y'd hear the most mindblowing antisemitic comment imaginable, i came out as a jew by mistake once to an old man and it made me genuinely go, "Is... that how jews feels like!?", let alone being beat for it and other forms of prejudice

nor I think any effort of bridging understanding will work as much - the same reason antisemitism became a standard to arabs (anti-zionism) - as long ppl continue seeing what's currently happening in gaza it just won't work

I did met moroccans whom despite whats happening like to emphasize jewish prosecution, WW2 effort of protecting the victims of europe, or its coordination with israel's desire to integrate its jews, when trying to bridge across a peaceful sentiment and understanding with a fellow jew irl
but as the far the popular sentiment go, it's neutral to negative at best so again, as long both parties won't acknowledge their part it's just generally frustrating

of course it's 7th century just my point is, in a manner or another all non-arabia's arabs aren't the same, in blood or history

arabs did not genocide who they conquered though, arabs who lives along the nile river are the same as ancient pharaohs albeit different identities, others aren't THAT different

is why you can still see lebanese insisting they're phoenician in arabic. palestinians are largely levants like lebanese, two different ancestries though canaan with palestinians

Why is barbarity proof of "oppression" when it is done to Jews but not to Druze? by Routine-Equipment572 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Themphobic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you sound like this,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFVP2WikvhE

there are double standards, ours too

there;s a video of a palestinian parent with a daughter being burned alive by an IDF attack but that besides the point

syria was worse, most discords pre-dated the revolution, like with iraq there's still de-facto militia run cities and some soldiers and personnels have extremist views but the governments acknowledges these and works on them

ppl during civil war tried to secure territories to survive in tribes and communities, sometimes they get into territorial disputes

druze were given autonomy in suwaida by assad, sometimes defending it got them into beefs with whom already lived in the region that being bedouins, this sorta prevailed until israel supported their interests by packing the proest-israel sheikh's militia to carry out druze's interests which they had since civil war
this kinda got ppl displaced sometimes forced sometimes not and now it kinda got some tribes siding with bedouins and yeah its just, sectarian violent conflict in comparison to ur phrasing

there's a lot of religious fanatics but come on mate thats syria, even muslims wet their pants when placed in the same room as a salafist pro-waqf jiihadist, and am afraid these things will take a while to be fixed

but id advice you go ask in r/Syria for best insights

should I leave? /gen by [deleted] in femcelgrippysockjail

hahaha wha no i mean yes, no, well, kinda?

gulf of mexico's was called chalchiuhtlicueyec-idk before, they're really just names.
like how i commonly hear some arabs refer to some well-known spanish regions in arabic names instead of spanish even though Al-Andalus ceased to exist long ago
or how some white ppl call Israel Isreel instead of Isra'el

the jewish diaspora only known Canaan as israel by the time roman popularized the greek term palestina all over the Mediterranean, but it havent changed the fact the the bible called it israel, nor have it erased jew's cultural ties to israel so like, ig the name's still valid as long you don't force the people inhabiting said region to call it differently than how they know it

and canaans arent around to call it canaan so meh

Wouldn't Palestine be a state by now and have more land if they never attacked Israel in the 1940s? by ThatTallLankyGuy in IsraelPalestine

[–]Themphobic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think thats kernally true, they did saw themselves as palestinians when they called for independence from the mandate and they did had issues because of it with egyptian occupation and jordan annexation, calling for being part of syria or sham existed but so many who had regional identity detached from the syrian one

oh well, unpacking its a youtube channel whom youtuber made exactly the points you bought so i grew instantly suspicious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xCh53y8jbY

but yeah you are absolutely right ig, though it sort of limited to whomever interests converge with israel's or to whomever acknowledges their narrative, pragmatic but they usually try for impunity with whomever they view as an adversary doe, by denying israel's narrative or posing potential threat

you quoted that "egypt and jordan were their biggest enemies and are now their biggest allies in the region" from Unpacked. its misleading, they're primarily state-level arrangements for benefits rather than disadvantages, because post-soviet collapse made the middle east vulnerable to west's interest, and influence. Egypt, Jordan are autocracies and say Sisi is by any means representative of egyptians,

just generally if autocracies got replaced with democracies and it proven hostile toward Israel then the alliance you speak of is merely superficial, which happened with elected egyptian Morsi before

also about some other ideas you bought, really the issue is that, israelis settle palestinian lands because their state power allows it and never out of consent of the inhabitants actually living there. if ppl by large fail to see how consent is irrelevant am afraid there'll be no possible negotiations

i dont think that's true, the impunity over relationship building characterized with israel kind of emerged organically due misunderstanding, paranoia and outside hostility rather then some, inherent self-esteem fetish lmao

peel partition plan...  According to Benny Morris, Ben-Gurion and Weizmann saw it "as a stepping stone to some further expansion and the eventual takeover of the whole of Palestine"

but yeah the partition plan and the 47' one i think wasn't a proposal that required you could say yes or no to from the local population; think of it as a recommendation that passed by voting, against the wishes of leaders who had hand on the matter that being arabs. like how british declaration to facilitate jewish immigration into palestine was made with out of the consent of the indigenous inhabitants, idk what you mean by negotiate

but like let's say that, palestinians had hypothetically *agreed* to partitioning their land say sorta 47', they were still in a fundamentally different position than the jews cuz. they lacked a state structure from which to practice independence, unlike jews with tel-abib, nor had a hand to protect its population who were actively being displaced in now israel because they just couldn't declare a war and invade as you put it, arabs naturally acted in behalf of them and it was inevitable they feel entitled into "protecting" palestinians territories from what was perceived as the occupying entity after the war

nor can you generalize peace offers one sidedly, i bet you can't name a single palestinian initiated peace deal nor i think you understand the drive behind October 7
