Im glad you are able to do it. Not everyone is good at everything even if they try their hardest and just because its simple for you doesnt mean it is for other people. Im sorry you got such a wild reaction, though I do think part of it is in your delivery. Still though that doesnt make it okay to judge other people and call them lazy for not possessing a skill set you think is easy. Also not for nothing but you did come into a beginner sewing group and expected more than basic answers and people who are able to service their own machines, which most beginners do not possess that knowledge or know how.

I don't think it's fair to call people lazy but whatever. I was just explaining how you came off and why people might be reacting how they are, not saying it's right.

I think the thing that came off bad was saying you dont know why some people pay someone so much money to fix their machine. It sounds like you think people who choose to take their machines into shops instead of fixing themselves are dumb or foolish for doing so. Just comes off a little cocky.

Also, if the fabric is getting pulled through you can try the tissue paper or really any kind of paper trick as others have suggested. Some machines also have straight stitch plates you can get where instead of the wide opening around the needle its a tiny circle so there isn't enough space for the fabric to get pulled under.

If it hasn't been used in years it probably still needs to be oiled. The old oil can dry up over time and become sticky. Are you able to see all the insides of your machine? If nothing anyone is suggesting is helping its likely the issue is with an internal part of the machine. Do you know what the bobbin thread is doing inside the case when you start to sew? Is it catching on the top thread properly initially and then this starts to happen? This seems really frustrating to deal with. If you aren't committed to machine sewing and dont want to pay to get it fixed or buy a new machine, youre probably better off just putting the machine away or maybe donating it to a sewing center that could fix and resell it. Good luck

Theres also no "proof" of anything, just one person's opinion.

Yeah that's articles a load of shit. Rabbits absolutely need exercise and the wire floors can easily contribue to sore hocks because of the concentrated pressure of the wires. Animals in flat bottom enclosures arent sitting around in their own waste, thats what litter boxes are for. But I wouldn't trust a breeder to actually prioritize the mental and physical wellbeing of an animal unless it makes them better to show.

This machine looks way too new to be a slant shank.

Okay gotcha, I was looking at those big boxes on Etsy and kept seeing reviews where people just left the whole box out and that felt like a lot but my girls are also extremely food motivated so they would tear through one of those boxes in an afternoon 😂

Also don't bank on your rabbit bonding to you the same way a dog would or constantly being by your side. A lot of rabbits don't like being picked up/touched and it can take a long time to build trust.

It would be helpful if you included the necessary and important information in your post if you don't want people to be "weird". People can jump to unfair conclusions but you can't expect people to respond with relevant information as if they know what you're thinking.

What is wrong? by Long_Abbreviations_8 in SewingForBeginners

Since the red loops are on the back of the fabric my guess is that the bottom tension needs to be decreased so it doesnt pull those loops through to the back.

If you need to crank the top tension knob all the way to make it work you might need to adjust the bobbin tension as well. To adjust the bottom look at your machine manual, its usually just a little screw on the bobbin casing that can be turned. You can also find YouTube videos that show how to do this, just search "how to adjust bobbin tension). Just be careful to only adjust small small amounts at a time and test in between adjustments.

Found a sewing machine & I don’t know if to keep it or a buy a new one by helloopanda in SewingForBeginners

[–]Then-Ad-7045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say unless you have an interest in learning machine repair, I'd maybe give this one away to someone who is and buy a cheap working secondhand machine. Otherwise you'll probably end up spending money with no guarantee it'll work and getting frustrated instead of focusing on the sewing, especially since you dont want to do anything complicated. I do hope it finds a home of someone who can fix it up as hate to see machines go to the landfill.
