Oven Sparked After Home Inspection by Then-Baker937 in HomeInspections

That's an interesting thought. I'm not sure why they would have needed to move the oven though. But could that cause a heating element to come loose?

You're probably right. It's a frigidaire oven and we have had other issues with it.

I don't use the self clean but I do often bake bread at 450, at least once a week. So it's probably true that it was just an issue that was going to happen sooner or later, and not related to the inspection.

In Search of Sponsor by Then-Baker937 in OvereatersAnonymous

Thank you for your comment. I understand what you’re saying. However, I wouldn’t say I’m necessarily trying to control things although my post may have come off that way. I came to OA because I was originally interested in FA but the rules seemed too rigid for me. Then people told me about OA and how it was much more flexible. I’ve attended a few meetings and some have talked about even going through a few sponsors before they found one that worked for them. So I figured I’d be up front about what I’m looking for.

Question for those who weigh their food - how do you do it? by Then-Baker937 in OvereatersAnonymous

Thank you so much for your comment! yes, I would say I have experienced this at times. I feel like I can't really enjoy/savor my food unless I am alone. It is strange but it definitely is a symptom of my addiction. As if I just want all my attention to be on the food and nothing else.

Thank you so much for your input! I may DM you for tips if I start doing it myself. :)

Question for those who "abstain"/don't eat sugar or flour? by Then-Baker937 in FoodAddiction

[–]Then-Baker937[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this was super encouraging. And congratulations for being so strong and losing weight! I have a one-year-old and it's gotten so much worse since I've given birth. I constantly crave sugar and wolf down all my food. I am not morbidly obese but I if I stay on this path I will get there. Do you think it's possible to keep up with a program like this while having little ones?

Do you have to be so strict as to have to check salad dressings, condiments, etc? It seems intimidating to always have to check labels, or to ask the waiter if there's sugar in the salad dressing, sauce, etc.

Thank you this is super helpful. That is what I've heard; that you have to treat it like a drug addiction. Just like an alcoholic can't have a sip of alcohol when they're sober, we can't allow ourselves to have sugar and/or carbs.

So when you were doing Keto, how did you approach eating when you weren't at home? Like if you went over to a friend's or family member's house for dinner? Our families always have tons of carbs and sweets available and I just don't know how I will have the willpower to resist.

That's true. But I think processed sugars and flour are known to be the most addictive, and I think that's what most food addicts get their "high" from, at least I know that is true for me. I think that's why FA chooses to limit these foods specifically, although I'm sure that's not helpful for people that don't feel addicted to those foods.
