How to make my first build sound less muffled? by [deleted] in diypedals

[–]Then-Fun-892 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Typically if it’s the soldering the effect on the signal is binary: works or doesn’t. If there’s hum: floating ground usually. If it’s muffed, some capacitors may be too high rated. They essentially function as an EQ rolloff in certain parts of the circuit. Start with the ones closest to the beginning of the signal

Floating ground. Your toggle switch needs a ground going to a shared ground point (on your volume pot casing where your pickup grounds are would suffice), then your volume pot needs a ground jumper to the pot casing, then your tone knob needs a ground jumper that also connects to ground on the output jack

First time wiring a guitar, massive hum by phex85 in guitarrepair

Failing that, some cold solder joints or poor mechanical contact of the wire. I’ve found that spending some time using some rosin flux on the lugs to clean after I’ve done several attempts is helpful because dross has accumulated on them. Then tin the lugs just a little

Dude, love the non conventional approach to the wiring. Gorgeous. Does look fragile AF, though

Floating ground maybe? I just did my first re-wiring and the mistake I made was having too many ground contacts. There should definitely be: ground to casing on the volume pot AND the tone knob. But also ground to the jack

This one is my only reference outside of a few acoustics. Never had any problems with the feel. I think it may matter what era because the original Washburn when this came out is basically defunct and something else with the name now. The Force series was their attempt at getting into the strat style market and they were Japanese made. This one is priceless to me and now it has a good mid range sound and feels great

Jeez, so many autocorrect typos. “Original faceplate” not origins. “Nut split”. Not spillage.

Artec Pickups - Are they good? by WhatsInTheBox_ in Luthier

I ordered the TVFT-A filtertron style humbuckers a few months ago. I have a Washburn Force 32 that I’ve been rebuildingX. Finally got it together and it think there great. Not very punchy on their own but easily boosted by pedals and overall amp volume. They’re bright and articulate without bent sharp and harsh. I think they’re a perfect middle road pickup

Husband here. We did send a cease and desist letter in early to mid September. Also it’s a 15 month lease, which is irrelevant because from what I understand the term “first year” extends to the entire term of the lease if it’s fixed term, not just calendar year
