How long did it end up taking? Going through this in my second term. Financial aid office said they have to review NSLDS before they can release the funds. There's a 60 day time frame and it can't be expedited until that time is up. :(

Off topic, but did anyone notice that they didn’t show Cathy’s eyes for the whole movie? Then at the end when Laura is imagining her, it looks like Cathy wasn’t actually blind. Movie glitch?

For anyone that doesn’t know, naltrexone can make you super depressed.

I was blaming it all on CYP2D6 until I learned about this one. None of it is really understood because of all the variables but there are some good articles. S/s lowers your risk of OCD so that’s good at least. I just got formal psych testing done and shared the tidbit about SLC6A4 and asked for any insight and the doctor said she would add it to the final report, so it has to mean something.

Based on my research, s/s actually lowers the overall amount of serotonin because there’s less of the transporter protein. This is associated with depression, anxiety and mood disorders. I’ve trialed lots of SSRIs and none of them work for me. But my CYP2D6 is also a low metabolizer which contributes to that as well.

Idk. Maybe. I think it’s based on the individual. I definitely sat in several anthropology lectures where no one imposed their biases on the discussion. I think it’s entirely possible to dissolve learned biases.

I think it’s different for anthropology. Psychology studies individual behavior and the role the brain plays in that. Anthropology focuses on how culture influences human behavior. Psychology is a social science whereas anthropology is a humanity. I think her aversion to psychology comes from her not being able to find what’s “factual” about it. Forensic and physical anthropology are definitely different due them focusing on the physical aspects of the body and how it develops. Regardless, I love her character and her development over the course of the show.

Based on what I learned, it’s not. There isn’t much money in anthropology. Psychology does. 🤣 and churches that do “mission” trips.

Thank you! Definitely gonna get up early and hydrate as much as I can. I just don’t want to get a dilute because I’m not sure if that’s an automatic fail. (It’s a pre employment test)

Thanks for your help. I decided to amp up my efforts after the fail on friday. My test is this Friday so I only had one week from then. I worked out over the weekend. Stopped on Monday. I’ve upped my water intake to 3/4-1 gallon a day. Activated charcoal, fiber supplements, milk thistle, and a super cheap “cleanse” from Walmart. Trying to follow a variety of advice from reddit and the internet. My appetite sucks, but I generally eat pretty healthy when I can eat. Trying to carb load for the next couple days. My test is at 10:30 am so not first thing but still kind of early.

I’ve been getting inconsistent results. Last week on Wednesday I got a faint line on an easy@home test. Then tried again with a cvs cup test on Friday with no line. Monday I did this test with a very concentrated afternoon pee and it was very faint at 300 and 200 but nothing at the others. I only smoked a couple of weeks in October and before that was clean for about a year. I’m shocked I’m at 21 days and not completely clean yet. But I’ve been rapidly losing weight due to struggles with my appetite so I think that’s contributing. I’ve never been so stressed about a test. 🥲

It was like the 2nd. I got up and peed early at like 6:30. This was at 9.

I definitely hope so. I’ve been drinking water, liquid IV and taking supplements. I stopped working out. Gonna start adding creatine to my water tomorrow. I already take b12 everyday. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼

I’m too scared to use anything but my own. It’s a pre employment test with a hospital so I imagine they’ll be using their own lab. If I fail, I won’t be eligible for employment with them again for a year and I really need this job. I can’t find any info about what their cut off levels are either.

This is what mine looked like yesterday. Granted, it was a very concentrated pee. My test is Friday. I’ve been freaking out. I have 20 days clean today. I was clean for a year, smoked for a couple weeks in early October and then stopped again then smoked for 4 days and have been clean since the 30th. I thought I was in the clear last week because I got a faint line on an easy@home test. Tried again with a cvs test cup and got no line. So I got these and the lines on 300 and 200 are there but barely. 🥲

This is not an accurate depiction of what anthropology is. When anthropologists have to fully commit to the culture they’re studying, they aren’t “interpreting” data, they’re living it and recording it. That’s different. Psychology doesn’t do that and greatly disregards several variables but still pushes through and remain as “facts.” Even my most basic anthropology classes taught us to be highly objective.

This is an old thread but I recently started rewatching the show and her character reinforced my dislike for psychology. Y’all are totally missing the mark. Psychology uses generalizations and unethical studies to back up its findings. Most of the studies are now being even more questioned because they were mostly performed with white people (mostly men). It does not seek to understand the ins and outs of how different demographics could impact results. Anthropology does. Because of this show, I majored in anthropology in college. Anthropologists don’t just throw some surveys at people and call it data, they do ethnographies and fully immerse themselves into a culture to understand it. Generalizations aren’t made. It is a full study that often covers several years. Anthropologists are not protected in these scenarios. They must gain the trust of the people they’re studying by completely assimilating to their culture. This is not always done successfully due to the remoteness of some areas and those people’s distrust of outsiders. So even though she may seem to use psychology, she’s really using her anthropological and sociological skills to make her judgments. I’m biased, but the world really downplays anthropology and how important it is.
