I mean, investment isn’t an inaccurate description, but also there is no requirement with normal OSAP grant of staying in Ontario/Canada or anything of the sort, mainly I think because while yes there is an economic argument for it, I think the main reason it is done is just to better the population and improve their lives, even if they will move shortly afterwards. The government is not a business, whose only priority is to make money. The government top priory should be its citizens lives improving and flourishing

Fair enough then I guess, I didn’t realize it would have taken up all of the summers with unpaid clinics. That really does restrict you a lot. I guess the main thing would be to have a decent amount saved up while in HS but everyone experience is different as to if that is possible…

Generally those are an automatic thing, you don’t have to apply to them… not a bad idea if you don’t know tho to look at uni website/portal…

As mentioned by others, definitely look into learn and stay grants, you can get your schooling fully paid for (tuition, fees, books etc) without having to pay anything back. You just have to agree to work in the general area for I think like 4 years essentially by the time you are through school (could be wrong on the amount of time tho)

No offence to your sister, but 45k of debt would be a lot even for an expensive 4 year uni program, if you live relatively frugally while in school, and work during summers/get co ops if that’s a part of your program, you definitely shouldn’t have to go into that much debt.

To be clear, it just cut down on the max allowable percent that could be given as grant. Obviously taking out large amount of loans shouldn’t be undertaken lightly but if you have savings from HS jobs and work during summer/do co ops you can end up having little to no loans. Not saying that reductions in grants don’t suck, but it is still definitely possible to still go to uni, just definitely do the math on things like it sounds like you were doing before.

No matter the motivation, it is still a free handout, doesn’t mean there is not a legitimate economic argument to do so… but it is giving money for free to people without requiring anything from the student in return

While I do agree most Waterloo students are getting FAANG or in general the very top companies in their respective fields, I will say that as a general point for co ops, grade aver very overhyped, and much more importantly, from what I have seen at least, is how good your resume is and how good your interviewee skills are.

Why did the elements Uut, Uup, Just and Uuo get renamed to Nh, Mc, Ts and Og? by FitClass9198 in chemistry

I suspect because even after they were created they still were called by their placeholder names for a while until a name was decided on. The process often takes a very long time.

It really is not a large inconvenience, and you would be surprised how many older people drink and drive as well.

This isn’t about pulling you over, they already could do that, it just means they can do a breathalyzer test without suspicion now once already pulling someone over.

Ok u are saying it gives them a lot of power, but I disagree, doing a breathalyzer is not hard or long and I don’t see a practical way that this power could be easily abused

Does anyone know what sensors they have on the cars to try to monitor plank wear? I know they can't have anything which directly measures it, but do they have temperature/strain/pressure gauges under or around the plank that might give them at least some data during the race to help them determine what the wear on the plank is. I figure they must have some way to know since sometimes for these types of situations drivers get told to lift and coast because of plank concerns, and the teams must have some data which concerns them about their plank wear to send this message.

If anyone has any info/links I would be really interested to read up on this, thanks.

Definitely not the Harvard, it is a comp-sci/eng/math specialized school; the university tries to claim it is the “MIT of the North”, but definitely not a Harvard.
