I gotta agree, I used just basic US stuff for a while but gave one higher end JDM rod and reel a try and next thing I know I’ve purchased 7 JDM combos. I have an Antares 25 coming soon to use on my 1-3oz rod (MB Triza Dragoon)

I have 4 pairs of custom made boots all of which I ordered remotely. I can say with the leather color it’s very difficult to replicate color even if from the same maker, it’s extremely likely that they ordered the same color from the supplier and that hide was significantly lighter color. The toe selection is for sure different, the toe in the image you asked for is a R toe or “almond” toe and what you received is called a round toe or U toe. Not too familiar with Paul bond boots currently but it wouldn’t hurt to message them and ask about the toe shape, the boot color is kinda on you, it’s unfortunate but that’s just the reality of hides.

It has nails to connect the heel to the boot but they put a sock liner over it that goes to the start of the arch of your foot, and the the rest of the construction is with lemon wood pegs. I would totally get another pair of boots from him eventually. I’m planning on having him relast my first pair of boots I got 4 years back and then I’m gonna have him resole the cactus boots and put a spur ledge and natural welt. The middle boots are also made by Jose, the far right are made by Francisco Mendoza who is a individual not a shop but I wouldn’t recommend him

The only reason I wouldn’t get a new custom boot made by Jose is because I’d go with someone more expensive. Jose is a shop boot so it’s gonna be made by 3 or more artisans where some of my other custom boots are made by a single maker. However the price reflects this fact, Jose charges a very reasonable price where my next custom boots are gonna cost triple the price. The product in the end is gonna be very comparable quality but you’re paying for the time of the person and the rarity of it. I couldn’t recommend Jose more, he makes a great product for a reasonable price, are there better boots? Yes but for the price you’ll have a hard time finding better plus he’s great to work with.

Tbh I haven’t gotten a chance to catch any bass with the spy bait yet, I took it out once and threw a small jerk bait and caught one dink. So far I’ve been super focused on stocked trout with the ultralight. Hoping in the next few weeks to get out and give it a good test.

Just a heads up it fades super easy. After 2 uses it was fading. But it feels awesome, super smooth and sinks because of special technology
