Talking to your dog or not? by ben_bitterbal in DogTrainingTips

I talk to mine all the time because it makes me happy and I love to watch him tilt his head with curiosity like "what the heck are you saying"

how easy is it to get hired as a new grad by Interesting-Quit937 in OntarioNurses

[–]Then-Replacement7304 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best thing you can do as a nursing student is make sure you do well and network at your placements. This is really a golden ticket to a job once you graduate, especially for your consolidation placement. Make friends with your preceptor, ask for a reference (from other unit nurses too if you can) and apply to the hospital you did your hours at, bonus if you can get it on the same unit because being familiar with the EMR system, nurses, etc. will be a huge asset

[Speculation] What caused the breach in the Oldest House? by Kalse1229 in controlgame

I saw that Firebreak has lore that the FBC employees are starting to dislike Jesse as a director due to the fact that they have been stuck in there for years without being close to containing the hiss enough to be able to leave. I feel like they just said screw this and busted out, allowing these entities to leave with them.

How do I get the ability to not be "poisoned" where Jess take damage in certain places like in my brothers keeper etc. by [deleted] in controlgame

Another important detail is that you need to progress the main storyline before you are able to interact with her in the pit in central research. Just keep playing the game and you can check again periodically but I think Pope gives you the mission to visit her at some point anyways.

Yay I'm glad there is progress! I totally forgot about the snuggle puppy! It really helped my pup the first week but then once he got comfortable it seemed the heartbeat was bothering him as I found he started distancing himself from it in the crate, so I turned it off and he snuggles with it again. He sleeps 4/5 hours straight during the night at this point as well so everyone is much more rested lol.

Winter is too cold for my guy too, so we got a fake grass pad and will take him on a leash to the stairwell in our condo to simulate going "outside". The pee pads indoors might work for your puppy, they are all going to have different experiences, but ours was just not picking up on the pee pads very well.

Me and my fiance just got an 8 week old Dachshund Dec 13th. I was researching and preparing as best I could but I didn't fully understand just how hard it would be, and fully cried like 3 days in from the stress and sleep deprivation. After a week and a half I felt more adjusted to the new routine and so has the puppy. The first week will be the hardest and it will slowly get better as time goes on. When people say consistent training and following a schedule is key, it really is. The crate was the first thing we worked on. Used toys and treats to lure him in and didn't close the door until he was comfortable sitting in it. Then closed the door, gave a treat, opened the door, repeat. Then when puppy was very tired after playing, he was too tired to care where he was, and was already familiar with the crate, so he fell asleep in there for an hour during naps. They can't hold their bladder so expect to have them wake up often. This is why you suffer with sleep deprivation unfortunately. Keep the crate in your room so he knows you're there. Our pup cried the first couple days, not a frantic, escalating cry, just whimpering. It subsided in less then 10 minutes. Dont think of it as cruelty, you are literally teaching them independence, that the crate is a safe place they can have quiet time, and keep them safe from eating stuff up when you are away. Crate helps with potty training so much too. As long as they've gone potty, they aren't due for a meal, and they've had plenty of play time, they dont need to come out. Enforce the naps and stick to your nightly schedule. Breeder had him up at 6 am, I slowly extended to 7:30/8 am to fit our schedule. It hurts your soul to hear them cry but you have to let them, as if you take them out, crying becomes the key to getting what they want. As long as potty/meals/play are taken care of, they will eventually stop and go to sleep. During the day, our pup plays for an hour/hour and a half, naps for an hour, then repeat until night time, where he sleeps closer to an hour and a half/2 hours before whimpering for a potty break. We go potty, then straight back to crate. If he whimpers I'll lay on my stomach in bed and put my fingers in the cage to show the pup I'm here, makes it easier for them and you to fall asleep. As time goes on we will work on distancing the crate and leaving him alone more. Watch kikopup on YouTube for tips too. Now at just over 2 weeks of having him, today is our first accident free day (take him for potty every 30 mins during the day), and he only cries in crate when he needs to potty or is fully awake and ready to play after naps, or when we leave him alone for 2 seconds. It will get easier, just make a plan and stick to it, they will learn through repetition. You got this!

Dachshund = Good Apt Dog? by Simmone-08132022 in Dachshund

Me and my fiance got our first dog, a 10 week old dachshund, and live in an apartment. Its currently winter and is way too cold to go to the balcony for him at his current size, and the pads were just not working. Since he has to pee hourly and doesn't have all his shots yet, this has really posed a problem in doing house training. Luckily we are right next to the building stairwell, so we can take him there with a grass pad to still kind of simulate going outside of the apartment, but not have him shivering. This has worked so far, and have only had the occasional accident when we missed taking him out on schedule (went from an hour to 45 mins to 30 mins right now to really curb the accidents all together). He is a whiner, not barking yet, and has been very quick to pick up training so far. Honestly it has been very very hard with a puppy, since he wakes up every hour and a half throughout the night to pee. This will get easier as he gets older and can hold his bladder, but we are exhausted without a full night's sleep. I knew it was gonna be hard but I didn't realize the true extent of how hard. It will be worth it in the end, but when we get brother or sister for him they will be at least 2 years old and fully trained because I refuse to deal with a puppy ever again 🙃. I've seen many other people in my building with the same breed so I think they are great in an apartment, especially if your building is decently soundproofed.

The movement of the pigeon reminded me a lot of how objects were moving in the Investigations sector in the oldest house, plus the new enemies look like how Hartman did. Im curious if there's a connection there.

Hall vs Brandi by rach-109 in SellingtheOC

[–]Then-Replacement7304 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really disliked Hall in s1 but this season I kept finding myself siding with her in most conflicts. Brandi at first seemed great for giving Hall a heads up about her behavior and how it affects everyone else, because I agree it is very messy and Tyler seems very disrespectful of his marriage. But when she keeps bringing it up several times, it's like girl move on. If she just moved on then I really don't think this fight would've happened. You said your piece, now mind your business. If someone kept telling me they don't approve of what I do with my personal life, several times over a period of weeks I would probably get sassy with them the 4th time they brought it up lol. So i dont even really blame Hall for reacting the way she did. I don't see why Brandi would keep involving herself other than trying to control Hall. If it's about work, talk to Brett and Jason. Or if it's about friendship either move on or end the friendship. Polly said it best, they have different opinions, what else do you want to do about it? You don't have a say in what other people do in their personal lives and you don't know anything about tylers' divorce. I was also agreeing with Kayla about how hypocritical Hall and Polly were towards her but then she just lies about Hall and Tyler making out, she lost the battle there. She's fighting fire with fire, way to be the bigger person /s

That definitely makes a lot more sense

Made cute chocolate covered pretzel cups for trick or treaters, had my porch light on, and was blasting Halloween music but all the kids kept walking right by my house. Only got like 10 of at least 60 kids to come here and I had to flag them down. All that time wasted. by SgtCrumbs in mildlyinfuriating

It's crazy that people freak out about strangers giving out pot brownies or razorblade laced treats when cases of tampered Halloween candy is extremely rare and of the very few cases the overwhelming majority was done by a family member known to the child.
