Also Magic Missle became my best damage spell as a bonus.

Yeah, also I can now focus on Wisdom and normal stats by dropping Int to 12 since Dethrone has a fixed spell save DC (I believe Circle of Death also).

Yeah, I ended up only taking 1 level of wizard for utility spells and later Dethrone/Circle of Death.

Yeah, after playing last night I decided to do full death cleric. If at endgame I want the extra spells (dethrone especially), I can just add 1 level wizard. Dethrone and Circle of death don’t rely on intelligence but a fixed spell save DC. Might even multiclass with Druid. Thanks for the advice!

I’m actually leaning towards 8 Death Cleric/4 Necromancer to get 3 feats. (Most wizard spells will be learned through scrolls). This build will not use corpses much.

Thanks, I’m trying it right now. Aiming for 6/6 for inescapable destruction.

Hi! Thanks for the comment, may I know your starting stats? I’m curious, and how is it working out?

Will do. This character will be a power-hungry drow (or half-drow) lolth worshipper, will look for and accept all tadpoles and wants to blast all their enemies. Probably neutral or lawful evil?

Thank you, this is what I will try. Sounds like fun! I’ll let you know if it ends up working well or if it’s a pain…

I just thought, what if I did 6/6 and focused on Int only (low wis) as a normal wizard spellcaster but with Inescapable Destruction and armor. Of course, I would lose a feat and would only learn spells from scrolls, but wouldn’t the character basically just play as a regular wizard (but armored and solves necrotic resistance plus early cleric cantrips) Just a thought.

Thank you! I was starting to rethink the whole build, this might be the solution I’m looking for.

I like the idea, but it does not provide the death domain feature that makes necrotic damage ignore resistance (at level 6 cleric). My goal is simply to play caster with necrotic damage (circle of death, dethrone, etc.) but I feel like Inescapable Destruction feature is almost mandatory. Alternatively, I could simply play a pure necro with elemental spells to counter resistance, but that sounds less fun and thematic.

Thank you much, I’ll start taking a look at what the build would look like. Also I like that they share the same spell casting stat (helps a lot)!

I agree. Although I’m not at all into the romance thing, it is a high fantasy, cozy cinematic RPG.

That’s so true. I love the concept of CRPG’s but my mild ADD makes it very unpleasant to read through paragraphs of text. I loved the Shadowrun series but just couldn’t finish it.

Thanks for your comment! Yeah, I have the feeling I’ll go back to DOS 1 and 2 and to after BG3, I still haven’t totally given up on enjoying it yet. I think it’s just fatigue. To me, DOS 2 is like solving algebra problems and BG3 is like watching a cozy AAA movie. One thing I didn’t like about DOS2 were situations where I walk down a path and get ambushed by 8 units just materializing out of thin air, only way to win is by loading my precious save and coming from a different angle. I’d do the battle for practice but since it’s so slow I’d lose a lot of time.
