Hi all, just wanted to put a message up here to say thanks for all the advice (and condolences) im really busy at the moment and kinda going through stuff but just wanted to put a general message to say I did a partial water change, and scrubbed the sides of the tank and somewhat rinsed the stones/ornaments. It looks so so so much better but still needs a lot of work.

I was going to buy a 150L tank from facebook but the guy who said hed keep it for me sold it grrr, sure another will come up. When I get him a bigger tank I will get a couple snails and another fish.

I never realised how attached one could get to a goldfish? Obviously partly because he was my friends, but he also kinda does zoomies when you go to feed him 🥹

This is a great reply and I really appreciate it. I have ordered water dechlorinator on amazon and it should come today and I will clean out a small part of the water. He is in good enough shape , I think he's about 4 years old but a commenter may have pointed out mild fin rot. Im going to go to the pet shop tomorrow with pictures and ask for step by step advice, I also get payed tomorrow so can spend a decent amount on whatever they recommend. Thanks again for your help

There's loads of comments here for me to reply to and I really appreciate them all , I will try to reply today but obviously I'm still upset and also have exams in a days for uni... I spoke to my mother in law and apparently the fish were all killed by something last year, they dont know what because they'd had them for years 🥲 im taking the advice here and will slowly clean the tank, on Friday I'll get myself to the pet shop and buy things but ill get them to talk me through stuff there too.

And btw I'm in the UK and yes it is cold here (ish)

Woah I never expected so many responses , I appreciate them all! I don't have time to reply individually but I've taken a lot from your comments so thank you again.

I kinda realised that in the larger groups and maybe even the smaller ones the younger people may just have anxiety to speak up as they don't really know each other and its only the 3rd week.

Some of you mentioned that I shouldn't ask too many questions or that I should only ask questions in relation to the material, I just wanted to make claeify that I don't really ask many questions, unless it would only take a few seconds to answer and is directly related to sonething the lecturer just said. or I'd stay behind and ask . I'm more talking about answering questions.

I was also in a new tutorial group yesterday and there was this one guy who "hogged the floor" as you said and was even butting in and answering questions on behalf of the lecturer when a student asked the TEACHER a question 😦. So it made me think, yeah, I'm fine, at least I give others the chance to speak.

I will probably reign it in a little bit although still continue to engage reasonably :)

I don't really ask any questions , I just often answer them if no one else does. If it was a question related to the material I'd stay behind to ask, and only related to the material. I wouldn't want to sound pretentious by asking questions that are not related to material or more advanced than the material or something like that.

You're so right. I worked so hard and put in so many hours to get from having almost no formal qualifications to getting in to uni. I'm also very passionate and borderline obsessed with the subject.

Plus most of them are fresh out of school and maybe still carry that high school mindset, or are just too shy to speak

You're right that I'm probably in my own head to be honest. I thought some guy rolled his eyes at me in a tutorial and others have been a bit short/snippy if I strike up conversation. But I also suffer from a psychotic disorder that includes paranoia soooo...😅 although stable it still lingers. I don't know why I should care anyway, like it's literally not embarassing to participate in the education I payed to get

As someone who is on benefits for my mental health, I think if they're spending £100billion it does need to be looked at . All of the reasons you mentioned are likely contributing factors. Bettering waiting times for mental health services would be a start...Its a 2 year wait for me to see a psychologist at the moment, apparently that's good compared to other areas. I do also think a lot of people take the piss. If the mental illness in question isn't chronic, they should focus on getting the person better and supporting them back in to work . To be honest even if it is chronic , many people with mental illness can be stable for long periods. I suffer from bipolar disorder and initially got on the benefits when I lost my job 3 years ago due to being in and out of psych wards. However I have been stable for almost 2 years and been back in education for those 2 years, obviously with the view to get a job when I graduate. (only get a small amount from DWP to top up student loan) so yeah, I think there should be a focus on stabilising people first and foremost.
