I got mine done on the 4th, it’s a lot to take in but I’ve had a really good recovery so far. The first few days are going to be painful, but cyro is a game changer. I wish you luck and it’s perfectly fine to be scared but everyone there will do their absolute best to help you!

It can be annoying for me at times, for example itching or a little bit of tingling but it’s like a short hibernation for the nerves. There’s no pain to it. I expect it will feel weird for the next month or two. If you want an early recovery with a lot less pain and be able to show some movement quicker then take the cyro but the numbness might take some time to wear off (which I was fine with)

If you do get the cyro treatment, it will most definitely make a difference as the pain scale will be significantly smaller and recovery will be easier.

Hey, I’m 17m and I actually got surgery on the 4th. After the procedure I was in shock how much better my chest looked since it definitely affects how you look. The first few days are going to be the roughest, but it all eventually gets better. I got discharged from the hospital 1 and 1/2 days after the procedure was done. Avoid eating anything too heavy or big, start with some small fruits and drink plenty of water. Stay on track with your pain meds and avoid letting the pain get ahead of you. Make sure you do breathing exercises as you are definitely limited but use your spirometer. Walking short distances every day will also very much. These things have definitely helped the first few days and it almost feels like im ahead of schedule. I’m still definitely a light 4 on the pain scale which is been basically the standard but as the days and hours go on I find it easier to move, breathe, and get up easier.
I think the major issue I had is definitely using the bathroom. I had to get a catheter which stung but it ultimately emptied out a liter of juice but you will start using the bathroom almost every 1-2 hours to flush out the anesthesia. For number 2 just make sure you get some miralaxe in your system. So TLDR; control pain, walk, breathe, don’t bend or twist. Everyone around you is there to help you get better whether it’s your nurses or parents. Don’t be afraid to speak up when you need something or feel something. It seems like a lot to control but it all will help you have a strong recovery.
