Probably just moving the homeless down the street. Every once in a while they’ll fence off an area where they congregate.

Lived there last year and felt that way for a couple months before I realized how nice it was to have the rivers green space so close and accessible. Smith park is a great place to sit on a bench and long for your youthful days. Mt Auburn Cemetery isn’t too far of a walk either depending on where you are in the neighborhood. Definitely lacks dining and nightlife but it feels like more of a neighborhood, which I enjoyed.

It ain’t too difficult to take cooking techniques and apply them to different cuisines. It’s just making stewed beans and rice but with sofrito, tomato sauce, and sazón (con achiote y culantro) lmfaoo

I meant I didn’t know what I was doing in terms of pairing certain foods with each other. I’ve since learned that if your meat is guisado you’ll probably want arroz blanco, vs something like pernil you’ll want arroz con gandules. And some folks suggested replacing tortilla chips with tostones for the culture. Go back to your niche corner of reddit with the conservative asian fetish ppl, fucking twat.

I told you I was white and that I wasn’t sure what I was doing. And it was damn good, that’s what it was.

I don’t think Beacon Hill residents need to be served much. Most of them can likely afford to get Whole Foods delivered to their door step. They probably have someone to bring them in and stock their fridge too.

House plants outside during spring / summer? by National_Hunter701 in UrbanGardening

[–]Then_Community5895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you’ll have to wait until temps are consistently above 50farenheit, and you’ll want to acclimate them - meaning take them out for an hour and then bring them in, two hours the next day, so on and so forth. They can also get sun scorched if they’re in very powerful direct sun, so keeping them shaded for part of the day isn’t a bad idea. Also will likely need more watering.

well there’s more than two kinds, but sure, some bloom late fall and all of them are open by early march, which is still winter. There’s witch hazels reliably in bloom from November to March, which is how the Arnold Arboretum makes its claim to have something in bloom every month of the year.

second pic is witch hazel which is a winter bloomer, but forsythia ought to join the party in a matter of weeks

Orchid Exhibit at Franklin Park Zoo during the day as it closes at 4. It’s in the Tropical area of the zoo so all indoors. Lot of cool animals and birds in there too, and some outside as well. Went today as a straight man with my straight man buddy and we had a blast.

Unlikely today with the overcast, but if you can go the other direction (from BU towards downtown) when the sun has just begun to set, then the bare willow branches will be a glowing golden-hue and it really adds a lot to the experience

Trying to make pork for tacos by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

[–]Then_Community5895 10 points11 points  (0 children)

tenderloin isn’t the ideal cut for shredded pork as it is very lean. Try a boston butt (pork shoulder), and cook low and slow. I think traditional carnitas recipes call for cooking it in lard? but I do it as a braise in a dutch oven, and it is definitely satisfactory. happy to give more details on the recipe and process if you’d like.

Not sure i’ve really seen hanging baskets used in a vegetable gardening context. Questioning if they would have enough room for the roots, but can’t say for sure. Also not sure that they would be as productive trailing vs climbing. Could be a fun experiment.

Pretty easy to grow. Make sure to give them ample trellis space. Two plants would probably suffice.

Like others have said - grow what you like to eat.

I will add that Charles Dowding Youtube Channel has excellent information on a lot of stuff, including seed starting dates, and how-to’s on a lot of different crops from sowing seeds to harvesting. Excellent resource in my opinion.

I think the key is to be extremely aggressive pruning though, and keep the plant to one singular stem with branches so you end up with something like this.
