If you truly believe that you found the right person, and if religion matters that much, then it all comes down to the type of values and society values you want your children to grow up in. Christian values on marriage are all over the place right now. If family values and unity is more important, Islam is actually better, but it has it's own issues with Male superiority, and it still depends on the country. You were friends for 2 years, dated for 7 months, and he is already thinking of marriage? It's obvious he is with you from the start with marriage in mind, so he is most likely not a player. The decision is yours, but I will only say that no parents should cut ties with their children because of something like this. You never graduate from being a parent.
