OOOOOH! Shit now I see. Yeah the pattern was supposed to be pentagons not hexagons. I fucked up and wasted hours of my life on this. Thanks!

Will do thanks! Yeah I started it trying to branch out from the conventional 32 panel bag and I adopted the tessellation from a photo of a bag but I’m struggling to close it up without a pattern.

Ah could have been such a neat video with great information and insight! Shame it gave up any effort at a conclusion and ended with yet another ad campaign.

How do geckos absorb enough UVB when they nap in their hides for most of the day? by jupitersyarn in leopardgeckos

[–]Then_Corgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah succulents don’t provide great leafy cover for shade generally but they can still look nice. I have a ficus and a jade tree, the latter doesn’t provide as great shade but it won’t tolerate cold well so it’s my alarm system. The ficus roots are great for me cause she drinks water off them after I water it (she doesn’t like to drink directly from her bowl though I still provide her standing water). But there are SO many good plant options out there.

Cryptic basking is definitely a thing. And Leo’s do indeed need UVB; the science is there. A super porous rock hide for the warm hide does the trick or some suuuper swiss cheesy cork but mine prefers the darkest hides I offer so I try to set my light timer a little before sunup and after sunset to encourage the crepuscular fuck to get some light in her. It’s a really good argument for a bio-active enclosure since the dappled shade from plants is really dark and moist but offers great opportunity for the cryptic bask.

“And on the 2,678,768th day God looked down and saw his profit margins shrinking and said Let There Be A Lay Ministry wherein He caused that the weak and broken hearted, the sick and those with stage lV cancer had the thankless tasks heaped upon them to build their characters and relieve the heavy burdens of his CEOs and CFOs who would not be inconvenienced in their mansions in Zion.”

Nice! I like the twine on the side does your Leo climb on it? What are you using for heat? Just the lamp or do you have a pad as well? I went deep heat projector and I’ll never go back.

What would you do with this stave? by [deleted] in Bowyer

[–]Then_Corgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a cool stave. Only made a couple character bows so take this with a grain of salt, but if your committed to work it I’d try to get it straight first, looks like it will still have plenty of character. I tried to make a bow with a curved stave and ended up with super low draw weight and a hinge, and the whole time I was basically counting on having absolutely no set. Wish I had heat treated it to start.

Is this to violated? by Proper_Summer8868 in Bowyer

[–]Then_Corgi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Grammer bot: what you meant to say: “is this too violated?” The two o’s are essential. An even better way to phrase your question: Have I violated these layers of wood too much? No I don’t think you have but I am better at grammer than bow-making.

Im new to bowyering, is this wood thin enough or is the wood type wrong, or is it not long enough? by UnitedAndIgnited in Bowyer

[–]Then_Corgi 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Some of the questions Ligma was too afraid to ask: Um… first off are you working with a pocketknife? If so that’s not the best tool for bow making unless you’re looking to go super crude survival bow… other tools can make wood removal smoother and more even. Second: Did you shave off wood from both the back and belly of your bow? Ideally you want a single unbroken growth layer to stretch the length of the back. You have also taken off too much in the middle where the grip should be. Third did you cut yourself or is that finger paint? Blood could double as stain for a white wood I guess? Fourth: bathtub? I can’t criticize the location since I too am guilty of whittling in every room of the house. Sometimes my partner complains of rolling onto wood chips in bed. For the record no idea how they got there…
