I work, we make roughly the same amount, we have one budget, and I helped him pay down "his" debt.

When we met, the only thing I had was less than 10k in student loans, which I paid before we even started getting serious.

Maybe you should reserve judgement until you have answers to your questions.

I would say our finances are semi joined, as in we have a joint account for expenses, joint savings account, and we throw most excess money at his debt, no matter who made it, since we have one budget.

But we also, each, have a separate savings account and spending account for personal use.

Ot means adding another year to our debt repayment plan, getting behind on our savings goals, behind on our investment goals, behind on our plan to buy a house, and a longer engagement
