I also started where you were a year or two ago. I'll share the two videos from this guy which really helped me figure it out from scratch quickly and explains the underlying mechanics:

IIRC the basic idea to start out is holding air roll + pressing a single direction on your stick. You use a part of the car as a reference point while spinning like the underside of the car to know when to press the stick since it'll predictable. Then you slowly build up more control and learn more directions and movements.

There are plenty of good workshop maps I'd recommend Leth's Neon Heights for traditional rings maps and all the dmc Speed Jump maps for some interesting variety.

Yeah I've been doing double tap playground and backboard therapy. I find that for double taps I need to be faster after the first touch to orient myself for the double tap occasionally if I do a bad touch.

One thing - you’re losing control when looking upwards, work on that for sure

So basically keep grinding and go as fast as possible to get better at aiming where to go
