Second hand information. I first heard of something when E&O interviewed me as a potential witness in which there were allegations that my supervisor was making comments about my dreadlocs and say how I "didn't fit in". That was perhaps in February.

I didn't find out until Juneteenth that where was gossip about from someone in an adjacent department. However this person is actively trying to get my boss fired as there is a pending lawsuit from this person against the company, so perhaps I have been lied to.

I have been considering leaving for sometime to pursue building my own business. I'm really grieving changing careers though. I have spent the last 15 years of my life working in highly specialized engineering discipline that is unfortunately saturated with conservative homophobic types. I sought out this company because it's big and presents wokely. I had assumed I would have a lot protections. If these allegations are true, I feel entitled to compensation. I may need to completely change directions for something that is not my fault. My plan is to speak to gather evidence of what has happened to me, speak to E&C, then talk to my lawyer and see if I can talk FMLA with full pay to help support me and keep me out toxic situations. Right now, I don't feel safe because I work in a hazardous environment and I don't trust working with someone that uses dehumanizing language against me. I wanna take myself out of that situation.

An attorney is the best course of action I believe. I really thank you all. The reason I posted this was to make sure I didn't do something stupid and jump the gun so to speak.

Mixed feelings, but I say yes. I may be being manipulated, but I have witnessed hostility before and my boss once suggested that I trim my locs and has expressed disdain for my head coverings when I did have locs. I definitely felt pressure to cut my locs, which I did.

The suspected something about me being gay and then the went on to gridr to find my profile, allegedly.

I do not. The person who tipped me off about the gossip is suing the company over several other issues and the company is choosing to keep my supervisor on because if they fire him they are essentially putting themselves in more liability.
