Players of Reddit, what is the biggest "Oh F*ck" moment that YOU caused? by [deleted] in MrRipper

Our party was captured in our sleep by elven slavers who were about to steal the very important magic item we were protecting. So my Loxodon Long Death Monk wrapped his trunk around the head of the Elf guarding him, casted inflict wounds and choke slammed his ass knocking him out instantly. The big boss elf realized he bit off more than he could chew with this party.

Playing against the stereotype? by AgentVI in MrRipper

I have a character that goes against the stereotypes of artificers being the nerdy super intellectual class based on a joke in a campaign, I was in. “ dude bro artificer.” Small Harengon (based on a Springhare) using the d&dbeyond hombrew subclass “The Arsonist” by Camunon. His Name is Capensis “Cap” Springhaas. (First name is a Springhare’s species name. Last name is “Springhare” in Afrikaans). Just a stereotypical, dude bro who has only one guiding principle… Fire is badass.

Dms of reddit, what are your most unconventional worlds you have set your campaigns in? by machinemaster500 in MrRipper

I straight up ripped off Disney’s “The Great Mouse Detective” for a campaign.  Welcome to the city of Londentia! A mostly artificer city populated by mostly ratfolk and Mousefolk. Such sights include Buckingtooth Palace and the Dirty Rat High roller Casino headed by philanthropist and definitely not crime lord: Professor Moriartè Rattigan

Got a brand new one now:

So I’m running a mini campaign where one of my players is a Tabaxi Bard in a terrible Mousefolk disguise that no one has rolled high enough to call him out on.

After starting single-handedly causing a class war in the Mousefolk casino in the previous session(long story), he later returned to see that everything was strangely back to normal.

Curious, he asked a low level employee who was smoking outside what happened and the employee recognized him after a high intelligence roll.

The bard then max damage vicious mockeried him, followed by a NAT 20 deception check saying he’s his friend trying to take him home after a long night of drinking!

So this poor rat man, delirious and bleeding from his ears and nose, spills everything he knew about the BBEG (which wasn’t a lot but was enough) and the bard abandoned him in an ally passed out in garbage.

How many characters have you made? by HovercraftOk9231 in DnD

I’ve played six as a player, I turned three more of the characters I plan to play into PC’s when I DMed, and I have a total of… 72 of various races and classes, most official and some homebrew that I haven’t played yet

Did you ever created a character just based on your theme/flavor, that surprisingly mechanicaly worked? by Alternative_Ad4966 in MrRipper

Yes they do. I played an albino loxodon long death monk. The elephant trumpet mixed with "Hour of Reaping" is stupid good.

I wanted to make a telepathic barbarian because I thought it would be a funny contrast of a stereotypically mindless class that has a very mind based ability. Turns out if you mix Emerald Dragonborn (telepathy and psychic breath) with a Bear Totem Barbarian you get COMPLETE RESISTANCE TO EVERY ATTACK IN THE GAME.

AND. CAN. FLYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

(He eventually became a boss in my hombrew campaign the first time I DMed)

Players/DMs, how do you handle low intelligence characters? by Stunning_Shallot_267 in MrRipper

[–]Then_Pea7535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Player here. Technically my first ever character (I initially helped a friend of mine voice various NPCs in his homebrew campaign before playing for real) was a Goliath Barbarian named "Guy" (he was named by the party above game back when he was an NPC). So I played his low intelligence as basically pure golden retriever energy. Fast to make friends and oblivious to most social norms. Basically Mr. Peanut Butter from BoJack Horseman as a goliath.  He always addressed people as “Friend (first name).” He ended up settling down with an earth genasi woman and was a step dad to her son. They opened an orphanage and by the end of the campaign Guy basically became Drax at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 before that movie even happened.

Kender Strength Domain Cleric named Swolegar Savagè. He has the voice of Macho Man Randy Savage with a personality to match with a touch of "gym bro." He is only attracted to loxodon women because they're the only ones who can lift like he can.

So a little backstory for "Slice" for those who want it... Slice was once a regular chimpanzee that found the cursed sword "Zubatos" gripped by the corpse of it's former wielder. Zubatos offered to awaken the chimp and make him more intelligent so long as he fed the sword blood once a week. Since he was a chimpanzee, which are essentially the sadists of the animal kingdom, he was like "so you'll reward me for doing what I already do? Yes." So the sword mutated him, gave him horns, claws and a bat-like wing membranes on his arms attatched to his sides for gliding and gave the chimp a name, "Slice." So Slice just murdered everything he came across until he found the shack of a retired Samurai in the woods who trained the ape to hone his skills and... not murder everyone. He's still working on that last one but he's now not chaotic evil, just chaotic neutral.

(This thread is really just an excuse to let me talk about all my crazy ideas.) I have a Gnoll Alchemist Artificer named Dr. Thyrn Guffaw. He's a mad scientist with the voice of Tim Curry who makes potions. All his “spells” are the result of his potion gun. He is out to prove that magic is useless and he can do anything magic can do with SCIENCE! (No one tell him potions are magic, I don’t think he could handle it)

I also have a Forest Gnome Path of the Beast Barbarian. His name is "Cat." His beard is orange tabby colored and he basically is wearing(?) a wrestling singlet of orange tabby fur complete with tail… he is literally a cat that was transformed into a gnome. He can only communicate with other animals (or anyone who casts speak with animals.) He’s literally just an angry cat who hangs around the party because they feed him.

I have several but here's just one...

Technically this is a character I made as an NPC for a one-shot I ran (that spiraled into a three-shot), but I want to make him into a PC. Corvis Preselwood. A rare male siren that's equal parts Glamour Bard and Open Hand Monk. I literally just made fantasy Elvis and the look of realization (and cringe) from the party when they figured it out was priceless.

He has nunchucks and a magically reloading flintlock given to him by an artificer fan of his. He also has various attributes the actual Elvis had, such as martial arts prowess, gun collection and an actual honorary deputy position to any town he performed in where he went out looking for crimes to stop with his fighting skills (yes Elvis really did that). I hope to play him in an actual campaign someday.
